Alfa GTV 3.0 24v

Hello...with my "challanges"

Hi there,

I'm a new visitor to your your forum and highly impressed with the accurate and most importantly the rapid feedback on questions.

I drive a GTV 3.0 (my second) and really enjoy it. I've decided to keep this one, currently sitting on 180 000kms, and still going strong. My only issue is that the aftermarket service on Alfa's on this side of the world is pretty poor, so I'm thinking that I should roll-up my sleaves and do some work myself.

thanks in advance

Here are my first few questions:
1. I hear a faint (muffled) knock coming from what sounds like my driver side front well when driving on a rough surface. The noise persists when I apply the brakes. Any advice?

2. If I have been driving for a while, stop and then reverse. When I apply the brakes (while in reverse). I hear a loud knock. At first I though it was the brake pad shifting in their holder. Common sense says that this is not possible. Any advice?

3. If I accelerate in first gear and then suddenly remove my foot off the accelerator, I feel a back lash (as if the engine shifts). I feel it again if I accelerate. I thought it related to the engine mounts. Had these checked by Alfa...they say the mounts are in perfect condition.

thanks...looking forward to the responses.

Re: Hello...with my "challanges"

1. Could potentially be
front ARB drop links - best search the site for more info.

Or worn wishbone bushes, replacment of wishbone is the normal remedy, poly bushing it is a good idea if you are planning on hanging onto the car for a while. They Last longer, and give better handling.

2. I wouldnt expect an audible knock, but I suspect that the pads perhaps can move very slightly when changing the direction of braking?
