Thumbs Up Hey all...

Hi Guys,

I thought I had already posted a while ago, but it seems not, so Hello...

I'm Keith, I live on the Wirral, and drive a 51 plate 2.0l 147 TS Lusso in Silver, bought back in April '06 (I think).

Cam belt snapped on me at 50k last June Bent alot of valves in the process. Had new head gasket, head skim, bolts, Cambelt Kit (pulleys, tensioner, fan belt etc..), Valves, Variator... New Oil, New Antifreeze, New Aircon gas. Cost Just shy of £1100!!! So there's a lesson to all of you, don't put off the cambelt change, GET IT DONE (and find a cheaper garage! )

Had a wing mirror ripped off by some idiot a while ago.. Quite literally RIPPED off, there was blood all over the car, and a nice dent where they used there foot to lever it off...

Now there is a horrible knocking coming from the front, some bushes have probably gone, and need seeing to... Anybody got an idea of what costs I would be looking at for new Wishbones, Antiroll bar bushes, drop links, top mounts, etc... ??? What is common to go on the front at 53k?

Last question, my central locking button light has been lighting up RED when the ignition is turned on, but it is not flashing like the alarm has been set off.. Does anyone have any ideas?

Well, thats enough for now. I look forward to using this forum a bit more than I have done in the past. Hope you all had a nice Xmas and New Year. :xmas:

Take care.

Re: Hey all...

Welcome to AO.

As for suspension, it is likely you'll need new wishbones at the front. These come with new bushes already in, unless you can fit new bushes yourself a garages labour charge might make this more expensive than fitting new wishbones altogether..

Ciao e benvenuto
Enjoy the site!

Technical knowledge abounds - but not in this lounge

Go to Alfa 147, 156 & 159 - Alfa Romeo Forum and ask your specific question over there - here we just say "Hi" and "Welcome" and we all hug each other

Hey BigFoot, Jason & ClassicGal - thanks for the welcome.

Jason, you should have said top marks for stupidity... lol . Either way, at least my mechanic won't go hungry for a while! Alfa owners are true petrol heads hey Any normal motorist would have given up, not us alfa enthusiasts though... (cringes at slowly diminishing bank balance...)
