Ok ....so MS wasn't a genius since he had no flaws

Re: Autocar - Hamilton vs Schumacher
Autocar..Ham VS Schu.....well its just symptomatic of the total sloppiness in modern motoring journalism. Its a cheap stupid headline for a cheap stupid story.
I think Schumacher brought discipline and teamwork to a team that did not know the meaning of the words. He was so consistently fast at all points, particularly in and out laps that he found time where there was none. He is unquestionably one of the 'greats' of Formula One and at his best he was stunning to watch. That does not mean my feelings are not tempered by the occasions on which his behaviour slipped beyond gamesmanship into that grey area of cheating. I'm genuinely sorry, but those occasions took the shine off his achievements for me. There are enough champions who have behaved like champions to be able to see the difference between their and his behaviour on the track when things got sticky.
Maybe i'm just old fashioned.
I don't blame Lewis for jumping ship. He was paid zip all this year. Next year will be different, his career could be short, you have to protect your earnings, and nobody will give him space here. Every racing driver has ended up moving abroad for privacy and/or tax reasons. He's no different so lay off him

Ooh, while we're commenting upon (slagging off) Schuey, it reminds me that it was ultimately his 'out' and 'in' laps which bought about the pit lane speed limits.

I thought it was a reaction to Alboreto's wheel coming off in the pitlane at Imola?

I'm not sure that makes sense?

Imola '94 - Alboreto's wheel came off in the pitlane, injuring a couple of his mechanics and some from another team.
The pit lane speed limit was introduced at the following GP, Monaco.
Struggling to find an FIA press release because it's so long ago, but this fan site from the time says:
"The FIA have announced a complete review of safety precautions in the wake of recent tragedies that have devastated the motor racing world. Following a meeting of all F1 teams with FIA and FOCA representatives it was also agreed to impose an 80kmh speed limit in the pits, which will take immediate effect."

Re: Autocar - Hamilton vs Schumacher
Lewis is a great driver but a needs a dog of a car to mature (where was he last year).
Schumi went through loads of those (types of cars) before a came of age and that's what will always make him better in my eyes.
He brought a whole new level of fittness, teamwork, discipline & determination to F1.
I agree with Mosley when he says that Lewis will also have a negative (MS type) affect on F1 if things continue to go well for him.

The problem is not Lewis, it's the cars. There are other young up and coming drivers more than capable of matching Lewis. Kovaleinen, Rosberg etc but they're not able to because every season is a two horse race for the top couple of teams.
If Max and his merry band of incompetant rulemakers sorted the regulations out properly then Lewis (or any other driver for that matter) wouldn't be able to dominate.

I think anyone would have done what Lewis has done, since paying tax is the last thing one wants to do.
Having said that, his (father's) constant marketing PR and spin is wearing a little thin.
I mean, an autobiography at the age of 22?

It's easy to blame Mad Max but more often than not it's the teams who fail to agree the new regulations.

Re: Autocar - Hamilton vs Schumacher
His interview on Chris Evans Radio 2's show was pretty ugly. He came across as arrogant & full of it. Not humble & grateful like he was at the start of the season:-(

Yes, because certain drivers were doing Racing speeds in the pit lane to get good 'in' and 'out ' laps.
Although the FIA imposing a speed limit after 3 incidents of mechanical failure (probably), sounds about right.

Hard to turn down such easy money, and I'm willing to wager that the vast majority of peeps would do exactly the same.

Ayrton,Michael, daylight and then the rest including Hamilton.Kimmi is also much better than Hamilton.Has there ever been a rookie in such a great car,I think it will eventually be a handicap to his career ,a little bit like a very young person inheriting a lot of money.
