But I think you may be starting to understand what Mad Max is on about... he's anxious to make sure that the perception of F1
globally is that it is not a racing series "run" by the British.
Ergo, Ferrari are "the most important team" - they represent the most significant proof that the series is not Anglo-centric, having been in F1 for ever and with some considerable success. They "prove" that F1 is an international series where teams of any nationality can compete and be successful.
Finally, I wil say that Max is fairly precise with his words. If he said "important" then he does not mean "significant"..
