Re: Ferrari Vs Mclaren
the politics in F1 is crazy, but anything in which a huge amount of money is involved or one upmanship, creates this kind of atmosphere of 'cheating'. Look at the cheating going on in Tour de France every year. In sport there will always be cheating, always. sorry it's true.

Yes indeed but Ron needed to put a few things straight, and express his point of view in reply to all the Ferrari stuff that's flying about eh !

Re: Ferrari Vs Mclaren
Now somebody is lying, Ron Dennis said Stepney tipped them off about the moveable floor, and Stepney is now denying this. Very odd. Why would Ron lie about this particular fact? Stepney is facing a jail term in Italy if found guilty so may have more incentive to.
Perhaps Ron really go info from blueprints................?

Re: Ferrari Vs Mclaren
New evidence has now emerged, and the appeal hearing has been withdrawn. In its place there will be another meeting of the WMSC
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/62066
Could spell bad news for McLaren.

Re: Ferrari Vs Mclaren
Ferrari were adamant that McLaren knew about the leak of info as early as March, hence the reason why McLaren allegedly installed a new email blocking system to ensure their staff no longer received emails with Ferrari projects.
And then, they did nothing, didn't inform FIA, didn't inform Ferrari, just let is slide and oh, came up with the movable floor thingy.
I don't believe Ron tried to be dishonest, just perhaps a little naive as to the extent of the issue at hand.

Re: Ferrari Vs Mclaren
I think they'll decide to postpone the decision till after the Championships. That would be the best option in a way to keep people interested in the Championship till the end and then take appropriate action.

Re: Ferrari Vs Mclaren
McLaren can preempt this-before the sword falls. They can withdraw from this season and 08 and let Ferrari race themselves which they prefer(like they did in the US following the Michelin fiasco).Ron will make an announcement and again will make clear that McLren is innocent but in the interest of the sport they would withdraw whilst on top in bot champ titles.
i know that i will stop watching F1 if McLaren is punished.
And finally someone seems to be reading recent F1 Rants on AO )))

Re: Ferrari Vs Mclaren
That's never going to happen Pete, all the sponsors would cut their contracts with McLaren and the company would effectively be bankrupt.

Agreed, but transgressions must be punished. Look at this years Tour De France. The leader and several leading riders were thrown off the event for cheating. Harmed the race and the sport but tough decisions have to be made. If this new evidence bangs McLaren to rights, (and I don't know that it does), then they have to be punished. As Bigfoot pointed out, Ferrari were always adamant they had evidence they wanted to bring to the proceedings, I wonder if this is it or whether it is another sorce?

I have no problems with punishment.....but i look for consistency which is non-existent They are fine with flexi wings, movable floors, flexi-diffusers etc but they draw the line at employees involved in leaking information.

Re: Ferrari Vs Mclaren
Read on an italian website that a German mag ran an article that indicated the new evidence to be discussed at the Sep 13th hearing is made of a series of email exchanges between Alonso and De la Rosa.

Re: Ferrari Vs Mclaren
Aye! I heard that Alonso dobbed McLaren in it.
I think he wants them to sack him, so he can go and drive for Renoort next year. If he just leaves he'll no doubt have to pay a "fee" for the privilege.

Re: Ferrari Vs Mclaren
Interesting article on autosport....
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/62097
Not sure about Alonso being the source though. What you have to remember is that Ferrari have a sworn confession from Coughlan about everything that has occured in this matter. They will have been aware of this, mabe they informed the FIA? If it was them they will no doubt get flak but if they have evidence relating to the case then its only right it should come to light.
