Re: Rossi vs Stoner

Well if you are a lover of Italian Motorcycles you would want Stoner to win..if you are a fan of Japanese 'crap' then all means go for Rossi...
Funny thing, put FIAT in front of Yamaha and it goes backwards

At the Moment . put an Australian of a MotoGP bike or a World Superbike or a 600 Supersport bike and you are likely to win.........especially in the rain....Living in a drought prone country must make you good at riding in the rain!

Re: Rossi vs Stoner

Early days yet, but my prediction is that Stoner will win the title this year, but Rossi will take the fight down to the last race - which should at least keep the season very interesting.

My money's still on Toseland for World Superbikes though, with Haga second, and dare I say Biaggi third (no Ozzies in top three).

Italian vs Japanese bikes, had both over the years but can't really compare in terms of performance as the Italians were 125 & 250 two strokes and the Japs have been 600 four strokes - at a push I would say Italian based on handling and style.

One more thought: Rossi vs Doohan (in his prime of course) on the same bike?

I hope Stoner wins the MotoGP championshipo. It would be good obviously for him but also for Ducatti and for MotoGP in general.

With Bayliss still around in Superbikes anything could happen......

And as far as Mark Webber in F1 is concerned, I would not like to have him in my car...it would certainly blow-up leaving my house........

Must be old news to you guys, but I just saw a pic of Stoner getting his new Brera from Antonio Baravalle.

Have to back him then as well

Re: Rossi vs Stoner

Not long to wait, Mugello this weekend. A lot of Italian pride at stake for both riders and machines, either way the Italians will be celebrating a win for one or the other. I doubt they'll get the double (Italian bike and rider) though as Capirossi is well off the boil - old age and fatherhood has definitly take the edge off his performance.

Re: Rossi vs Stoner

The Stoner Ducatti combo is working extremely well, lightest rider on the fastest bike, quite stunning to watch on the straights. Interesting season what with Honda seemingly messing up big time with aero dynamics on the bike, look at the front of the Duke and the whole of the rider is behind the bubble, the Honda there is very little in the way of faring on the thing, and as for the weird 'streetfighter' look of the rear on the Honda they seem to of shot themselves in the foot....wheres Hayden this season....

Re: Rossi vs Stoner

Exactly...where's Hayden this season? But where was he last year in terms of race wins. You can't take away the fact that he finished as champion, but not exactly the class of the field - I guess there's somthing to be said about consistancy.

I see what you mean about this years Honda, perhaps that's why Pedrosa is fairing (no pun intended) a little better - also due to the fact that he's about 4 foot tall and 3 stone wet through!

Re: Rossi vs Stoner

Good race today (Mugello) though, eh? I really enjoyed all the early to mid-race dicing and the end was great with old Barros coming through!

That's what I love about this sport - you can't really tell what's coming next. And even if Rossi walks off with a few races, there's always action lower down the field. Top stuff!

Just love the bikes to bits

Re: Rossi vs Stoner

Rossi all the way...................... but he's defo got a fight on his hands er.................gloves. He's not called the doctor for nothing...................he's got a remedy for everything.

IMHO Hayden was never a true champion ( 2 race wins if I'm not mistaken ) and has not adapted to the 800 at all.

Superb race today esp early stages with everyone beating each other up and hardly any kitty litter out of place.

Re: Rossi vs Stoner

Close call Ode, but I'd put my money on Valentino....definately a fantastic race, shame it's all in my head though.

Any thoughts on which track....I'm thinking of Laguna Seca, although the thought of going through the corkscrew is making me feel queasy

Re: Rossi vs Stoner

On one of the really wild 500 cc 2-stokes then I would say Doohan as he was a real master of these nasty machines.
