Hi all,
Just let everyone know about the racing Alfa 159 2.4 JTD that raced in Australia over Easter.
The 12 Hour Bathurst Race was held at Mt Panorama (town of Bathurst) in New South Wales. The cars are all production cars with the maximum value of a car capped at A$120,000.00. Very little modifications are allowed, besides obligatory safety things like roll cage and race seats.
A dealer prepared 159 2.4 JTD won the diesel class (be it two cars in the diesel category) driving the 12 hours without the need to change brake pads, and only changing the front tyres only. The car averaged 17 litres per 100 kms (16.62 MPG) racing!
The car ran standard exhaust, air con still connected, 2 degrees negative camber.
The other diesel car was a diesel Holden Astra that did a spectacular smokey finish under the "Alfa 159" bridge ... bit of irony in that! The car finished 20 outright out of a field of 32 starters. (9 cars didn't finish)
