Alfa in F1?
It's been awhile since they've been in F1, any possibilities that Alfa would return to F1? I would love to see Alfa back in F1 . Any thoughts?

Re: Alfa in F1?
Ferrari will always be Fiat's only F1 brand.

Re: Alfa in F1?
Nothing to prove... 1st amongst Champions...been there, won that, and had the best driver ever...Everyone else just spends their time trying to emulate Alfa Romeo...

Re: Alfa in F1?
FIAT can't afford two competitive F1 teams, so Ferrari will be the only one in F1.
I rather see them humiliate the other brands in DTM, like they did with the 155.

Hopefully they will have the same success with the 8C in the FIA GT Championship

Re: Alfa in F1?
Problem with F1 is that it can give you the wrong kind of publicity when it all goes wrong. Jaguar are a perfect example, remembered for their F1 failure rather than their Le Mans success now.

Poor Jaguar don't think they will ever be the same again (being a Ford / Volvo )

And I hope Lancia will someday be allowed to come back to world rally racing, once the FIAT Grande Punto Abarth has been put to good use. What about a Stratos Due? That would be .

Re: Alfa in F1?
I though the strategy was:
F1 = Ferrari
DTM/BTCC = Alfa
Rally = Lancia
Popping to the shops = FIAT
I'd hate to see Alfa be anything but the dominant F1 team; but the racing they did - and won - a century ago, is so far removed from the racing if today, that i question whether they'd successfully pull it off.
agree with the Jaguar reference.

Re: Alfa in F1?
No chance of Alfa back in F1. The reason that the 80's Alfa team ceased operation in 1985 was because of FIAT's buyout. FIAT, as already staed by many responses, only wanted one brand in F1, and that brand is Ferrari.
Alfa will never again be in formula one. The Alfa Romeo engine in the back of the Osella in 1988 couldn't even carry the name due to FIAT legal action. So it was branded as an Osella v8 instead.

Actually Fiat, via Abarth, is taking part in some rallying competitions, mostly in Italy though.
