Re: F1 2008
I wonder if it would still have been to Lewis' advantage had Kimi spun him round when he punted him up the backside?

Re: F1 2008
At least we now have a race for the Championship.....and as Gilbert14 mentioned , Hamilton did gain an advantage and that was the advantage of passing Kimi at the next corner which was unlikely to have happened at that time if he had not cut the corner and been able to sit so close to Kimi.

He was up his chuff approaching the chicane, and Kimi was braking early on tippy toes because of the conditions.
Methinks he would have been in pretty much the same position at the next corner anyways.
But the key point here is that f1, for the first time in ages, actually was really, really entertaining today, a real spectator event, and the FIA have shot themselves in the foot with both barrels, and turned it into a farce. Again.

Maybe he would have been able to pass at that point or maybe he would not have been able to pass but Hamilton did try and "stretch' the rules by sitting almost next to Kimi's tail and not giving back the distance he gained.
The real question, one that it is impossible to obtain an answer, is if it had been the other way round, would Kimi have been penalised.

Couldn't agree more...
I'm not entirely sure why LH decided to cut the chicane - I've not seen an on-board yet - but cars were taking to the 'extra' bits of tarmac all over the place, due to the conditions.
Not half a lap later (just before the pair met the recovering Williams), Kimi got a huuuge advantage by going wide, off the racetrack, onto the rougher stuff.
The whole thing stinks, and ruined an entertaining race. Which, after the yawn-fest of the European GP, had just about restored my faith in F1.

Re: F1 2008
I love Ferrari, and I would of loved to see Kimi win it, but this was still a harsh decision in the end, Kimi did not defend very well as thrilling as it was to watch, and after watching the F1 highlights that was just on ITV, Ferrari are involved in this or so they claim

Re: F1 2008
Well at the time, I thought that Lewis Hamilton was being 'cheeky' after he let Kimi back past him. Sitting almost on Kimi's 'bumper' and to the left was not exactly what I would call letting him pass and not getting an advantage. Lewis blew the corner. He would have been well back from Kimi if he had actually been able to get the car back under control and driven on the actually racing track.
Personally I think the "Bar Stewards' got it right.

Re: F1 2008
The only problem with that Thread is it ruins the race for those that have not watched it yet...I normally tape and watch later because the races are always on too late.(We do not have Bernie changing the race times so that it suits us ) If I had done this with the SPA race, some rectal orifice would have ruined the race for me
