Re: F1 2008
"Perhaps I heard a different interview, but my impression was he started by saying "If I've ruinied Kimi's race then I apologise" Sorry ?!! "
So are we saying that Kimi can drive like a numpty at Monaco and hit someone who is about to score some major points for himself and his team....wreck his race, say sorry and that's okay, deal with it!
Hamilton makes a big mistake, hits Kimi taking himself and the Ferrari out of the race, says sorry and that's just not good enough?
Why? Is it because he's English, or because he hit a Ferrari?
Hamilton is still going to make the odd mistake. Even seasoned drivers do, i believe a recent German Ferrari driver even made a few.
He has set such a high standard for a rookie driver, that anything less than winning the Championship this year to some people will be failure.

"I've tried everything other than jumping out of a plane, but nothing gives you an adrenaline rush like racing a car."

Re: F1 2008
We stayed at the campsite last year so we know how bad those showers can be, we're taking a solar shower bag this time.
We considered staying in a hotel but opted for the camping again, getting there Thursday and leaving Tuesday, making it more of a holiday this time round.
Keep in touch a bit closer would be a good idea, heard a few others on here are going as well, could make it our very first AO F1 outing minus the cars.

Not relevant. You tackled me about Hamilton not Raikkonen, Hamilton's apology was begrudging to say the least.
He has set such a high standard for a rookie driver, that anything less than winning the Championship this year to some people will be failure.
He's the one talking the talk....we'll see.

Re: F1 2008
I think is is somewhat relevant. I didn't think that Kimis' apology was particularly heartfelt either..... and i'm not having a go because he's a Ferrari driver, just compairing. Two mistakes by two drivers.....two apologies.
It seems to me that people have just been waiting to get the knives out for Lewis, that's all.

Re: F1 2008
Honda must be gutted. To be so far down the field when a team like Redbull are in the points paying positions. Also, and even though i'm not a fan. How well is Alonso doing?! He's got be be pleased with third.
Finally...GO LEWIS!

Tall poppy syndrome.... Lewis is not too humble as we all know. He feels that he just belongs in f1 but he has worked his whole life to be where he is.
And then suddenly Kimi has class
And he apologizes better
The updates are paying off for Renault but you can also start very light without losing too much. And to think that Alonso was advising Renault to switch focus to the R29
It was very interesting to see Heidfield's on-board footage for couple of laps. The car was a dog.....turn in oversteer, slippery at the back, the steering wheel looked soft etc.
Maybe it's just Magny specific.....they shouldn't panic....yet

Re: F1 2008
Ferrari don't always get away with things, Kimi got fined €5000 at Magny-Cours.
Kimi fined in France
Kimi Raikkonen may be one of the quickest drivers on track but that doesn't mean he always gets where he needs to be on time.
The Ferrari driver was fined 5,000 Euros by the Magny-Cours stewards on Friday after arriving late for the drivers' meeting.
The meeting was scheduled to start at 17h00 local time, however, Raikkonen pitched up a little bit late.
The Finn was therefore deemed to be in breach of article 37.1 of the FIA sporting regulations, earning him the 5,000 Euros fine.

Re: F1 2008
So did Hamilton deserve the drive thru penalty? It was a tough call. Did he complete the overtake on Vettel? He sort of did, but missed the turn straight after he completed it, which sort of indicates he didn't complete it fully to have enough time to "reset" for the turn I think he should have let Vettel past and try again.
One thing is for sure, there is no clear winner this season, which makes things interesting.

Re: F1 2008
Hamilton was badly advised by his team I reckon. To let Vessel back through then re-overtake him, and cover his ass against the stewards in the process, would not have delayed him very long.
Sitting on your principles and giving the stewards not a great deal of choice other than to give a drive through (the least punitive option the had) fouled up his race somewhat more.
He could have been well in the points if he had allowed Vessel to re-overtake.
I don't think Kovalainen deserved his penalty. That was a bit harsh. There is more to come from Heiki...well I hope there is..
Driver of the day? Trulli.

Re: F1 2008
Hamilton ragged again. If he cooled down a bit he'd be an excellent racer but he's just too flaky at the moment.

Re: F1 2008
What Vettel said...
"He had a better exit than me from the Adelaide hairpin," Vettel explained. "I was inside, to defend my position, and had the better line for curves six and seven. Lewis arrived with more speed; I went from the gas and braked and he kept going. For me it was clear that he was going to cut the chicane."
The 20-year-old German said Hamilton would not have been penalised had he immediately let him take back the position.
"He cut the chicane completely," he said. "I had a similar situation at the Monaco chicane, when I was too late on the brakes. I overtook two cars but I let them go again and so the issue was settled.
"If someone stays out in front, there is a penalty. I think he should have let me past again because he had a better car and could have passed me again."
====
Having watched the replay Lewis was carrying too much speed so he did overtake, but was going to fast to brake in time for the chicane. I say he got past but didn't complete the manouvre properly, as he was going too fast and missed the chicane.
Two mistakes in two back to back races... not good form, old chap!

Re: F1 2008
Great Ferrari 1-2.
How did Kimi manage to finish the race without an exhaust?
