Re: F1 2008
I know what you mean Marksie, but I quite like comparing which team's TC works better, as well as which drivers rely on it more than others.
Getting the best out of the TC is as much as skill as any other aspect of driving, I think.

Re: F1 2008
Sorry Jamie, but how exactly can you see who uses the TC better than others?

The TC letters don't appear when they are cornering, or it flashes intermittently.
Montoya's was constantly on for 60 laps

We were in the grandstand at the outside of the first chicane at Monza two years ago, and you can hear the differences really clearly. It doesn't come over so clearly on TV, but then none of the sound does.

Sorry to burst the bubble gang but the banning of traction control won't lead to huge sideways moments at every corner. They have dissapeared because modern tyres don't work when being driven like that. They only give maximum grip up a few dgrees of slip angle. That's fine because the aerodynamics are wiped out as the car gets sideways too. The upshot, as always, is the old addage, sideways is slow, and nobody is there to be slow.....

I agree with you about the noise, and also the colour too - the Ferrari's sometmes look day-glo red, but that doesn't come across on the TV. MInardi used to look yellow on the TV, but in real life they were a day-glo lime...

Re: F1 2008
Someone posted me this news:
Marc Gene could be set to return to Formula One next year.
The 33-year-old Spaniard is currently a secondary test driver for Maranello based Ferrari, which has been speculatively linked with supplying a complete car and gearbox to a customer team in 2008.
Spanish newspaper Marca reports that Faenza based Scuderia Toro Rosso, co-owned by Gerhard Berger and Dietrich Mateschitz and already powered by Ferrari engines, could get Gene as part of the deal for Ferrari's race-winning F2007 racer.
Gene, so unoccupied by Ferrari this year that he races sports cars for Peugeot, drove for STR's predecessor Minardi in 1999 and 2000, and last appeared on the grid while substituting for Williams' injured Ralf Schumacher in 2003 and 2004.
Marca said the negotiations between Ferrari and Toro Rosso are 'on the verge' of being finalised.
Gene has started 36 Grand Prix, his best result of fifth coming at the Italian Grand Prix in 2003.
Honda has decided to field an unchanged line-up for the 2008 season, according to emerging reports.
The Austrian daily newspaper Osterreich claims that Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello are staying put at least for another year.
Barrichello's extended stay for 2008 involves a new contract, while Button penned a long-term deal two years ago.
The publication says the news is bad for Christian Klien, who had been hoping to use his test berth this year to spring back into a race seat, especially amid rumours that Barrichello might retire.
But it is being suggested that former Jaguar and Red Bull racer Klien, who is 24, could be in talks with Toyota about 2008, with F1's other Japanese squad unlikely to renew Ralf Schumacher's expiring contract.
Klien's current deal only covers the 2007 season.
His manager-father Johannes Klien is also understood to have explored the options at Honda-powered Super Aguri, but sources report that both Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson are likely to stay.

In every step, I hear your sobbing
Dare I break the shade with one caress
Dare I trespass to lift the veil
To touch the lips so soft and frail
It may be that love comes once and once only, preceded by rehersal, followed by regret.

Re: F1 2008
F1's loss I think. North America has a huge F1 fan base and this will really p**s them off. Bernie chasing the big buck wins out again

Re: F1 2008
I agree - if its a World Championship there needs to be a North American race.
Apparently the owner of Indy is hoping that F1 will be back in 2008, so perhaps the current position is just Bernie posturing - after all, just how much money does one man need
