Re: F1 2008

Here something close to topic we've all been chatting about, all the penalties handed out this year, reading the sport earlier I came across this:

No prizes for guessing who's had the most this season!!

2008 penalties to date

Australia
Kazuki Nakajima picks up a 10-place grid penalty for Malaysian GP for shunting Robert Kubica. Rubens Barrichello is disqualified for ignoring a pit-lane red.

Spain
Stop-go penalty for Nick Heidfeld who pits as safety car is out
Monaco Kimi Raikkonen hit with a drive-through penalty for changing tyres too close to start of race.

Canada
Lewis Hamilton, above, and Nico Rosberg have 10-place grid penalties imposed for French GP after the pit-lane collision that ended the races of Hamilton and Raikkonen.

France
Hamilton incurs a drive-through penalty for short-cutting the track overtaking Sebastian Vettel.

Belgium
A 25-second penalty for Hamilton cutting a chicane puts Felipe Massa on top of podium in his place.

Singapore
Massa picks up a drive-through penalty for a pit error. Rosberg and Robert Kubica hit with stop-go penalties for pitting while lane closed.

Japan
Both Hamilton and Massa given drive-through penalties for overtaking incidents. Sébastien Bourdais also incurs a 25-second penalty

Never give a monkey a gun!

Bring it on.

anything that can help to equalise the grids without the help of rain is good for the sport.

Re: F1 2008

And kimi still "talking" about the f2008:

"This year there have been problems, perhaps originating from certain decisions, and when we went back it was too late. Maybe this has cost us the season, but at least we've learned something for next year."

Raikkonen claims that changes made to the car over the course of the season did not help him as much as teammate Felipe Massa, which is why stepping back to an old concept from the Belgian Grand Prix marked a turning point for his campaign.

"Well, we changed the car a bit, and probably this wasn't good for me," he said. "So we went back, I think at Spa, and things went much better. But at that point we were already behind, it was too late.

"However I feel good with the car at least, even though it isn't always the way I'd like it to be. Sometimes it goes well, other times it's difficult to make it consistent performance-wise.

"But what we've learned will be useful next year too. I know we'll have different cars and tyres, but certain things remain the same."

Yeah with their overtaking boost buttons

I just love to watch great, real racing, that's not strangled by regulation and where the victors owe everything to their team finances or the weather.

I am not going to be able to digest that at all. I mean, if they stop making cars and engines then....it's not Formula 1 anymore

But what is formula 1?

I think it's supposed to be the pinnacle of racing

But you see far better racing on any club sunday at Brands Hatch.

If I wanted to watch the pinnacle of technology I'd watch a space shuttle launch

yeah...i understand what you're saying. I hear a lot of that from the flav/mad max. allegedly, your average f1 fan doesn't give a damn about seamless-shift gearboxes or any technology.

Who remembers Mansell running out of petrol on his final lap all those years ago when he was leading a race?
