Re: F1 2008

I agree the safety car rules are very unfair to drivers on occasions.
The organisers keep saying well put two laps more fuel in - how would that help? The safety car can come out at any time - it could always be within a fuel stop window for someone. Cant understand why they dont just keep the pit lane open.

Standard ladies? Dont want it/her spec'd up with a few 'extras' then

Re: F1 2008

I suppose they could regulate a mandatory reserve that can only be activated in the event of a safety car.....

Re: F1 2008

What they're saying is pit with 2 laps of fuel left then if your coming in when the pits is closed you have enough fuel to do 2 or 3 extra laps until the pit lane is open again, so you don't get the penalty.
But your still disadvantaged because the pack is all bunched up. This was demonstrated by Hamilton on Sunday he had the fuel to last until the pit lane was open but then lost track position.
I think all the teams will be looking at Nico's race and trying to work out the timing of his stop relative to the position of the safety car and nearest competitors to see if there are circumstances where pitting and taking the penalty is better than following the safety car.
The reason this system was introduced is that in the past the safety car would be deployed and the cars would race round to the pits to refuel and get out without losing track position. This made the situation more not less dangerous.

I saw di Montezemolo was describing Singapore (unfairly IMO) as 'a circus'

if he insists on bringing the clowns....

I like Ferrari, I would like to see Massa win, I just wish sometimes Ferrari were a little more gracious when thinks go wrong

Re: F1 2008

To be fair to de Monty he said before the race he was concerned about it, also Valencia (where Ferrari won). It depends where you read about stuff like this, the BBC site paints a "just because we lost whinge" whereas autosport tells the full story.

I am a massive Ferrari supporter, but that comment is funny

I think all these street tracks are for glamour and money, not for racing

Well the last race at Birmingham, under lights ,was nothing to get excited about...with calls for more races at Birmingham, the racing will not get any better...
