F1 hero - do they make them like this anymore?

This is terribly distressing to watch (apologies in advance to anyone offended)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=j1j_oEx1DkY

Apparently the race continued with the car and occupant covered over.
There was even a muted podium 'ceremony'

Head bowed in silent contemplation...

it's not in my contract to cry at work.....

A brave and sad tribute - I'd never seen/heard of before.

I'd never seen it or heard about it before either. Very moving.

that just made me angry.. the way the marshals just stood there while his team-mate does all he can to save him. I'd heard of this incident before but never seen the footage.

**** like this makes me want to build a time machine.

There are quite a few movies on there of lost hero racing drivers. All very moving TBH.

That is an amazingly moving piece.
A truly heroic action by David Purley when the so called marshalls did so little.

Is that a dig at football? Do you think there's never been any tragedies in a football ground? Do you think no footballer has ever died on a pitch?
Stick to the topic in hand please.

I totally agree, I would be screaming at them to get a move on, jesus ! and why did the other cars just keep driving by and not stop to help, rather than 'rubber necking' wheres the compassion for your fellow drivers!!
