Nascar
So, El Gordo Montoya bags a third place in his first NASCAR race (nice rhyme as well ), the Food World 250, behind Frank Kimmel and Steve Wallace, whom I am sure yall are very familiar with
Good going Monty

Re: Nascar
I Like Montoya, but even him driving a NASCAR can't make me sit through one of those races.
I've tried, but i just can't stand it!!

And an 11th place for Fatboy Montoya at the Sam's Town 250 a couple of days ago
Ron Dennis must be having a laugh...

Re: Nascar
Believe me, out of 42 or 43 cars that start the race, an 11th. place finish is not that bad.
NASCAR is a whole other league. At least it was when I used to watch it, around 12 years ago...

Re: Nascar
Fair enough, though Monty this year is driving in the "junior" league with 2 or 3 year old cars.
We'll see how it gets on next year in the proper NASCAR series

At least now he'll be able to bump and grind without necessarily crashing.

Re: Nascar
Hats off to Monty for winning the 24 Hours of Daytona* (on a Lexus ) together with Scott Pruett and Salvador Duran (who?).
Apparently, Montoya is now the only driver other than Super Mario Andretti, to win the Daytona 24h, an F1 championship, the IndyCar and Champ Car championships.
* The longest American endurance race.

Re: Nascar
Not to be an arse, BUT, more accurate info is:
Salvador Duran is a mexican driver. He raced in British Formula 3, winning the National Class championship (year old cars) in 2005, and doing the International class in 2006. Also he's done some A1GP races for Team Mexico and won both races at Laguna Seca. He's really quite good.
Montoya has not won the F1 world Championship, or raced in the IRL series, though he did win a one off indy 500 appearance, and he is a Champcar Champion (it was CART at the time though), F1 race winner and now Daytona obviously.
Super Mario won the F1 championship, Champcar title, Indy 500 and in sportcars at sebring and Daytona. All he needed for the Big Three holy grail was a win at Le Mans, but he never managed it, although he did finish second.

Re: Nascar
To those who say Nascar is boring and have been to a race, fair enough you are entitled to your opinion. To those who haven't been, sell your car, sell the wife just get there. The sight of thirty cars flat out, fifty feet away, coming off the turn at the Milwaukee Mile will be with me till the day I die.

Re: Nascar
Actually, Monty pushed off his teammate Scott Pruett to win the race
Pruett was quoted saying: ""Of all the people to take out -- your teammate! That was just lowdown, nasty, dirty driving."
Way to go fatboy, you'll become real popular in Nascar too

Re: Nascar
That's the Montoya we know and loved. Too little of that during his last days in F1,
