Surely, surely, we've done this to death?
For the record, I don't think there is much wrong with a Ferrari employee having a dossier of information relevant to his job.
A McLaren employee having a dossier of Ferrari information, and sprinkling tidbits of that information throughout the McLaren organisation, and the McLaren senior management either being genuinely ignorant of that fact or choosing to turn a blind eye to it - there seems to be something wrong with that.

Re: F1 2007 Season
Bigfoot more than inferred that Maclaren stole it. They didn't, neither did they attempt to steal it. What they did next is a matter of record.
I was just setting the record straight on who stole the document...A Ferrari employee....conveniently forgotten in some circles.
And..the unauthorised removal of a document from your employer....is theft. Of course if he was authorised it makes things a lot clearer, but he wasn't was he.

No, I think they should have the same punishment as Honda last year with their illegal fuel system, i.e., disqualified from the race - you know it makes sense

I think everyone should be banned from the race except Lewis, cos he's just fab. We should give him the title cos he tried so hard...

I also understand it wasn't revised but had to be completely removed causing a redesign of the floor.
Whatever....its history now and Ferrari have won both championships fair and square ( ). Let's forgoet about the what might have beens and what should have beens and look ahead to next year.
Still no confirmation of Alonso moving to Renault, or better still Spyker?
There was nothing fancy about the flexi floor. it simply pass the spring test that the FIA applied to it. It was consequently discovered that the load test wasnt strong enough so the FIA increased it. once the test was increased ferrari and a few other teams had to fit a stronger spring sytem limited or completely negating the positive effects of the flexi-floor.
the ONLY reason Ferrari wasnt penalised is that there system AT THE TIME prior to the rule change for the next race fully complied with the FIA rules.
there is NO DOUBT ferrari would have been docked points if they were in clear breach of the rules, Ferrari just seem to have a way of finding loopholes that then get plugged (quite rightly) by the FIA
Damon Hill is an old has been who like stirling moss and jackie stewart loves to get there name in the papers and be controversial.

Our man on the inside of F1 (Chrispy) gave us all the info we needed to know about the Ferrari flexi floor (the one with the hidden hinge in it....) Your take on it is..how shall I say...interesting.

....and what he said.
I like Ferrari but I'm not blind to their machinations - sometimes it winds me up because for years they've had preferential treatment and everyone accepts it as being OK somehow because "well, Ferrari is special.." .

You just want Lewis to win the championship. Is it because he is British or is it because he drives a silver ferrari?

Re: F1 2007 Season
I'm with Stirling on this. Lewis would gain more kudos from refusing to entertain taking the title this way. I think LH and his dad, and McLaren are astute enough to see that.
....Alonso on the other hand, despite his comments today, would DEFINITELY take the title any way it came. Grubby or otherwise.

Neither, its because he doesn't drive a red Ferrari, and isn't a big cry baby who expects his team mate to let him win

Re: F1 2007 Season
Well Damon said he thought the FIA should be more even handed with penalties, and disqualify the illegal fuel teams and drivers. Errr, like they disqualified the McLarens drivers.....No. Like they docked points for an illegal gearbox......No. Like they docked points for driving like an idiot behind the safety car........no (though this one isn't as clear). Like docking points for using more tyres than permitted........no. Ok Damon I agree with you, treat them as they have others all season!

well said, DH just loves the sound of his own voice, any everyone is gutted because poor little hammy choked, and ITV are gutted cus they were all dying for a hammy win, they just couldn't hide it.
So much for imaprtial journalism & commentry.
KR one the most races and in the second half of the season finished when it mattered. hence being a worthy champ.
interestingly Ferrari would have won both outcomes regardsless of all the legal disqualifications

Re: F1 2007 Season
If the problem is deemed a fuel irregularity, the punishment should be the same as it was for Button when it happened to him.
Different offence yes but the principal is the same.
The only issue is the reliability of the readings in both the ambient air temperature and of the fuel supply. Both have been doubted. So can or should they realisticly pursue the offence? Or in light of the recent numerous court hearings should energies be focused on next season?
In reality it could have been faulty machinery regulating the fuel. Yes probably the responsibility of the teams to check but a possibility. Likely to be unintentional.

Re: F1 2007 Season
So much for Ron Dennis not appealing the "spygate" decision for the sake of the sport - he is quite happy now to make F1 a laughing stock and tarnish it's image for good by carrying on with this appeal. He has a short memory - just how many transgressions and how many controversies has his McLaren team been involved in this year alone. Cheats and sore losers, eh Ron, what a class act your and your organisation are...

Re: F1 2007 Season
I do think LH needs to still learn a lot in F1, particularly given his mistakes in China/Brazil but here is a rumour that he might have caused the problem on his car at the last GP: linky
I guess we'll never know for sure.
