I was wondering where you were Peter

Did you notice Kimi actually smiled? You never know, next season he may actually crack jokes at the post race press conferences ...

Well thats the thing - he smiled on a couple of other occasions and also did a doughnut after a win. But this is the F1 champ tittle!! It's natural to go up a notch or two on the excitment Not for kimi though
I bet he is the life of the party - only when drunk

I think Ducati's success is even more remarkable given they are a minnow compared to the Japanese giants.

Re: F1 2007 Season

There is a precedent, in 1995, when at the Brazilian GP (!), Williams and Benetton were docked Constructors' points for irregular fuel (though not temperature related as this instance) but the drivers kept their points.

But of course, since we are talking about LH, we'll probably see those drivers docked points, hanged, drowned and quartered* ...

Re: F1 2007 Season

I think Ron is just trying to make a point. You lot and the FIA have all howled for his blood for even the tiniest Mclaren mistake. He's just returning the compliment and saying that perhaps others should be treated the same. Ferrari announced publicly they were quite happy to win the constructors championship in the FIA court, so why shouldn't he try as well. He won't get anywhere, but you can hardly blame him can you after the way he has been treated this season.

Alternatively shows what Ron is all about, bleating on about they put F1 first and don't appeal things......ye right! Shows he is no different from anyone else despite what he spins

If Lewis had not lost the plot, and his remarkable reliability and luck not come to an end , he would have won the championship!

Re: F1 2007 Season

I've had a look at the online version of the Times, Independent, Guardian and the Telegraph to see how they'd report that McLaren is looking to appeal the stewards' decision not to punish BMW/Williams.

Not a single one mentioned the 1995 precedent, which should confirm Kimi's victory even in case BMW and Williams were to be found guilty.

Tiniest mistake? You mean stealing 780 pages worth of Ferrari designs? Lying to FIA about "only McCoughlin knew about the dossier"? Issuing team orders against the rules in Monaco?

Teensy weensy mistakes surely

Re: F1 2007 Season

Kinky is the winner!

Kinky is the Champoon!

The only result that is just and fair. Any other (even a single point win to the McLyin' cheats) would have been a SWINDLE!

They were disqualified for organised and systematic cheating. Anyone who thinks that they did not gain at least one point of benefit over the season is deluded or Ron Dennis.

Kinky! Kinky! Kinky! Kinky! etc.

Re: F1 2007 Season

I htink we have to ignore the fact that this was the championship deciding race, and the decision about stripping the team/drivers of their points should be made on merit...

Given that other teams in the past (apart from Ferrari) have had both team and driver points removed for similar offences the decision is clear

Re: F1 2007 Season

Kimi definitely deserves to win, it'll be a real shame if he loses it due to this appeal.

Hamilton had a great season, but I think he showed in China and Brazil that he doesn't have a World Champion head yet. But there's no getting away from it, he's got to be the driver of the future - second in the chamionship and four victories is something F1 hasn't seen since the mighty Jacques Villeneuve...

Re: F1 2007 Season

Seems quite fitting somehow that the drivers championship should be decided in the courts, this year. I personally mourn that the transcripts from the many court proceedings this year have proved to be more exciting than the racing. What could have been a most amazing season was spoilt by the inherent inability of cars to overtake. Look back on the stats this year and see how many changes of position in the point-scoring positions took place on the track. It's pitiful when the highlight of each race weekend has been the last 5 minutes of the final practise session.
What price the FIA 'discussing' the pending McLaren appeal with Ron, before it takes place?
