Re: F1 2007 Season
Takes me back to last Wednesday’s breakfast TV when the sports reporter said, “This could be an incredible few days for British sport”… guess what, it wasn’t!

Re: F1 2007 Season
But who switched off Hamiltons engine...conspiracy conspiracy. I'm sure I saw someone in a Ferrari hat sitting on a grassy knoll with what looked like an electronic Gizmo......and where was Michael Schumacher this weekend?? Could it have been him in a dastardly disguise.
Just think, if the FIA ran the Rugby World Cup we'd get the final result a week next tuesday...and maybe they'd award us THAT TRY this time round.
We'l be back (meanwhile back at the SKY coverage of the conkers world championship where England are nearly leading......)
Actually I'm not displeased that Raikkonen won it. He deserves it after a couple crap seasons at McLaren, and after the stick he got from Ferrari fans earlier this year. We've always known he's fast, but doesn't always score well in the 'hunt the brain cell' competition.
Looking back, can you imagine what an exciting season this would have been without Lewis Hamilton. No one can deny he has been a sensation, and had he won the WC he would have richly deserved it. So fast and consistent straight out of nappies...yee hah!!!
Roll on the 2008 season where Mclaren will be operating out of the pit toilets.

The Icemam Cometh
Well done Kimi
Obviously I would have preferred Hamilton to win; but at least the Spanish winging g t didn't.
I'm pleased Kimi's done it at last - a couple of seasons he's been the fastest but his car has let him down.
Also I think the Hamilton's conducted themselves very well in defeat.
Here's looking forward to a great 2008

Re: F1 2007 Season
What I don't understand is why, if McLaren knew there was a problem with his gearbox, that they didn't change it - I thought the 10 place grid penalty only applied to engine changes?

Re: F1 2007 Season
The tarts at McLaren even copied the black "giriboxe switch offe bottone" next to the radio button on the steering.
Justice served . Pitty for Hamilton, but I'm sure he'll be winning some championships and races in the future. Very happy that Spanish spying rat didn't win the championships

Re: F1 2007 Season
Just said on BBC News that the BMW's are being investigated for fuel irregularities and MAY be excluded. If so Hamilton ends up 5th and wins the championship

Re: F1 2007 Season
There is a precedent for this isn't there? IIRC the team lost constructor points but not the drivers. Of course it is Lewis we're talking about here, so anything goes!

Well no, if a car is found to be outside the regulations then the car and driver are disqualified - its only fair

It does - some Spanish bloke gets access to the McLaren pits, and then Lewis has a gearbox problem

Re: F1 2007 Season
Much as I am a Lewis Hamilton and Maclaren Supporter, there is only one fair way of dealing with this if the Williams and BMWs are found guilty. That is to fine them and let the result stand.
As far as I am concerned Kimi Raikonnen has won this championship on merit, and on the race track where it matters. I think the sport will be overwhelmed with derision if a technicality gives Hamilton the championship at this stage. It would just be plain wrong.
The only thing that makes me smile is that Bernie must be sh*tting himself

Little bit more here...
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/63547
Issue with the temperature of the fuel sample - I'm no expert, but this sounds more like a minor wrist slapping than points docking affair. And can you imagine how Kimi would feel?
Oops - didn't see KS's post

Re: F1 2007 Season
Congrats to Kimi, well deserved.Yeeehah !!!
As for disqualifying BMW and Williams...well the FIA have already set a precedent by stripping a team of points and leaving the drivers with theirs so there should be no difference even if BMW/Williams are found guilty.

Re: F1 2007 Season
I still can't believe I missed the race
Well done to LH for making a super impressive debut in F1 and for having driven the socks of the car, also here in Brazil. Without that glitch, he would have been a worthy champion.
Still needs to learn a trick or two and certainly needs to impose himself with the team (ie. he should have pitted when he wanted in China).
Still a great season and hope to see more of next season.
Thanks everyone for the great chatting on this thread

Re: F1 2007 Season
Yes I would also like to thank shell for 'improving' the fuel. Why didn't they (Kimi & Massa) thank Marlborough for improving the tobacco?
What a wild season we've had. I think that it belongs to none other then Hamilton. He has made many drivers look ordinary and rocked a two-time champion to the core. We've seen a great movie but unfortunately the ending was underwhelming. But at the end it doesn't matter at all whether someone deserves to win the title or not. The moral title victor doesn't count…there are no points for that.
I think that McLaren lost the title with dodgy tactics and the inability to put an end to the internal warfare –they should be bitterly disappointed. Ferrari operated from a very peaceful and positive environment including their focus squarely on the driver with the most points. Credit to Massa, he (and Ferrari) are so strong at interlagos but such is life at Ferrari. I am convinced that a Massa title win would have been more enjoyable for the tifosi I mean Kimi didn’t even go one increment up on his usual excitement levels post-race WOW
Watch out! One very drunk Iceman coming through…..Well Done Kimi
