Re: F1 2007 Season
IM obviously well chuffed. Hamilton had a fantastic first season though. Just like to say it has been an often heated and passionate thread with all the Stepneygate stuff. Thanks to you all, everyone kept it non personal and I enjoyed the banter

Re: F1 2007 Season
I just watched the ITV news and they went on about poor Hamilton, they went on for 5 mins about how he deserved to win. But they didn't actually report who did win, I had to go online to find out. What a bunch of self obsessed pathetic ******s they are...
Congratulation to Raikkonen, he deserved to win because he got more points over the season...

Re: F1 2007 Season
Thank heavens that there is still some justice in the world of F1. What an amazing result for Ferrari, and with 6 wins, Kimi is a worthy champion.
I do think, however, that the way Lewis and his entourage handled this was totally right. I'm sure, as they are, his day will come - I can't wait for next season.
On the downside, the closest finish to a drivers championship for many years, yet the quality of racing still gets worse each year. Let's hope the powers-that-be start making some sensible rule changes for a change, and let them RACE with each other.
Now where's that bottle of Finnish vodka I've been saving?

Re: F1 2007 Season
Congratulations to Kimi Raikonnen and Ferrari. Raikonnen has carried himself through this season with great dignity, simply getting on with the job and letting his driving do the talking. At the pressure end of the season he has been the best driver, driven fast, with a shrewd tactical nous and made few mistakes.
Hamilton has had a stunning first season and is an out and out racer. His inexperience, not helped by his team's decision making, has been highlighted at the end of the year. That's not a criticism just a statement of the obvious...he will be stronger for the experience.
Finally, just heard Murray Walker on Five Live. About time they pensioned him off. He could not find it in himself to be gracious and congratulate Raikonnen except through clenched teeth! In contrast Hamilton was dognified in defeta and gracious in his congratulations and admiration for Raikonnen.

Re: F1 2007 Season
Incidentally where did the Ferrari pace come from.....a completely dominant performance that wasn't necessarily too evident in practice. Despite what people say about Raikonnen I think he is turning into a very mature and considered driver especially in practice. He seems to be much more concerned with setting his car up for race pace rather than outright straight line, or single lap performance. Rather like Prost and Schumacher before him.

Re: F1 2007 Season
I think the Ferrari pace came from the heat - it looks after its tyres better than the McLaren and so copes better in extreme temperature.
To be honet I think we've seen the best of Kimi - he always looks knackered when he gets out of the car, and now he's won the championship I don't see him being disciplined enough to win a second...but hten I could be wrong

Re: F1 2007 Season
Either seen the best of Raikonnen, or perhaps now the pressure of being the nearly man is removed, he might really fly. He reminds me a bit of Jochen Rindt.....someone who seems quite detached from the racing. Almost as though it's not the be all and end all for them.
I remember all the talk durig the first half of the season of how unhappy Ferrari were with Raikonnen, how they were going to ship him out half way through the season. Now he has brought them a drivers championship, and helped Massa and the team to a team championship they must be delighted. It's taken a while for Raikonnen to come to terms with Ferrari and for Ferrari to come to terms with Raikonnen. They might become a dominant force.
Roll on next season...can't wait. Let's have another competitive one and bring in BMW, Williams and Renault too.

Are you gloating Gilbert
Well done SA...the most consistent team in the tournament. Bet they can't believe their luck winning the Webb Ellis cup and not having to play one of FRance, Australia or New Zealand. Still the SA celebrations after were a joy to watch. Somehow couldn't see Gordon Browne being carried aloft had England won!

We definitely did get the easier path. With Jake White no longer coach, and 5 or7 Boks going to, or being approached to go play overseas, I'm sure it will be a while again.
