No, it was Schumacher who braked in the tunnel, here's the report http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/3761591.stm

Re: F1 2007 Season
They're bending over backwards for Lewis, they even rescinded Vettels penalty, so as to avoid having to punish Hamilton.

I have to say, looking at that, I don't think Hamilton had anything to do with the accident.

Don't agree that he had "anything" to do with it, since his pace was erratic and provoked an unnecessary backing-up of cars, but clearly the fault should lay with Vettel.

I think to be fair to Hamilton though, the situation was very difficult, with the track conditions changing minute by minute. Clearly he got too close to the safety car and had to back off, but did the right thing moving over so that Webber wouldn't drive into the back of him. The problem was it distracted Vettle - who should of been focusing on the car in front of him.

Re: F1 2007 Season
Yes, it was very difficult but then again he's an F1 driver, not an average Joe like me
I think he didn't help himself by yo-yoing during all the safety car restarts (2?) at the GP. Hopefully he's learned his lesson

Re: F1 2007 Season
...but seriously
I think LH does deserve some criticism in that he did appear to be 'taunting' Alonso (or whoever it was) at the restart however, that is something what is commonly done. Personally I think its dangerous and FIA should now clarify the rules that it should not happen again

I agree that during the 1st safety car period he could have done better, and perhaps that's why they examined what happened in the second so closely

Re: F1 2007 Season
I thought he was just trying to get the jump on Alonso to ensure that he doesnt get over taken at the first corner after a very long straight of potential slip stream. Alonso was reacting so fast to Hamiltons accelerations that he thought twice about whether really going for it a few times....just my mostly biased view of it, but not far from the truth I dont think

Re: F1 2007 Season
During both safty car periods I felt he ought to be a bit more consistent and sometimes it did look dangerous. During the first restart he defenatly could have done better but I think he just psyched himself out and got a little stuck in the shall I shant I thing. His second restart was much better. It's right not to punish him as I don't think you can blame him for the accident but I think he needs a better explanation of what he was doing wrong than 'your S**T'

Re: F1 2007 Season
Lewis on pole, Ferraris in the middle, then Alonso. Is he gonna do it in China?

Re: F1 2007 Season
That's a great analysis.
Looking at the figures it looks like Raikkonen may be pitting a little later .
1 2 Lewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes.Q1 1:35.798___Q2 1:35.898__Q3 1:35.908
2 6 Kimi Räikkönen Ferrari____________Q1 1:35.692___Q2 1:35.381__Q3 1:36.044
3 5 Felipe Massa Ferrari_____________Q1 1:35.792___Q2 1:35.796__Q3 1:36.221
4 1 Fernando AlonsoMcLaren-Mercedes Q1 1:35.809___Q2 1:35.845__Q3 1:36.576
And how has DC qualified in 5th? He said he had a wet setup

There was an interesting piece in the paper questioning why the clip was allowed to remain on youtue for so long, especially since FOM are usually spot on and close down any current era F1 footage nigh on as soon as it appears.
Perhaps that's why Lewis got off scott free, the case was tainted by the publicity of it......
