I admire what MS has achieved, but I don't admire the way he's gone and achieved it, however, I don't wish to demonise the man. I recall how emotional he got when he equalled (or was it passed) AS record of GP wins. Anyone who saw that press conference will know how Senna's death had effected him
Well said. I see your points as to MS methods, I just see them differently. I think the statement that rattled my cage was personal insults like 'ass hole' (I know you didn't make that one) anyone who has done what he has for various charities over the years and the undoubted affection the people who actually know him have for him, its rather harsh to describe him as an 'ass hole '

I agree. Its all too easy to see people in black and white, and all of us are more complex than that

Re: A small tribute to Michael Schumacher

I for one will miss him in F1, yeah so he's not my favourite driver (my dad & I stayed up to watch the Adelaide race and will never forgive him for the Hill incident) but for anyone to have long spells of dominance like he has shows an incredible talent. If anyone doubts how quick he is all you have to do is look at the results of his team-mates over the years, they're in the same car so should turn in similar results right?

I wish him a long & happy retirement, but I quietly hope to see him & Hill battling it out in GP Masters in about 8 years, when they're both over 45

Re: A small tribute to Michael Schumacher

Sorry to offend anyone but I will personally be glad to see the back off him!! Never liked his arogance or the fact that he can cheat and get away with it far too often. However he has done well but as comments before he has never had a decent team mate in a decent car to challenge him. It would have been far better if Ferrari had a decent driver who had equal standing to MS then we could have seen how good he was, all his team mates are purely there to protect his ass and not challenge him!!!

My favourite memory of MS was when he drove into the back of DC in heavy rain, despite DC pulling right out of his way, then still had the cheak to go and have a row with DC!! Best bit was the fact that DC was able to smile and walk away from him!

MS seems to think he has special rules and special rights over other drivers, next year will be the best F1 season for a long time!!

Michael Schumacher - the greatest of any era.

Fangio always had the best car - Schumacher did not

Re: A small tribute to Michael Schumacher

I don't really see the need for MS to thank his brother to be honest, yes his parents, manager, Jordan/Benneton/Ferrari team colleagues etc etc and anyone else who has helped and supported him but why Ralf, what help or sacrifices has Ralf given him in his career, surely driving for a rival team is good enough reason for him to not mention his brother.

The way I look at it is there are so many little niggles written in the press that get blown out of all proportion and the further down the line it goes the more distorted the truth becomes.

Just to go slightly off topic, many years ago when "This is your Life" was on the telly "Il Leone" our own Nigel Mansell was lined up for the red book only for the channel to pull the plug as they became aware that no other F1 drivers were willing to appear. Now I'm not having a go at our Nigel, I admire him immensely but what does that tell you about his character and personality and how often did you hear this mentioned at the time and shortly after.

I watched a prog. the other night called "When Sport Stars see Red", a countdown of the 50 worst incidents in sport dating back to the 70's up to the present day and if I had a good enough memory I could reel you off another 50 individuals who have committed far worse than MS over his career. Yes I agree he has been foolish sometimes as we all can be but how do you cheat your way to 8 WC titles. ?

I believe the 20yr old F1 fan of today will see old footage of MS when he is 80yrs old and only then will he realise he had the privilidge to see him race in the same era, and it's going to take some driver with a time machine to beat his 8 titles.

The greatest driver of the modern era and hes going to keep that honour for a good few years I bet.

Just cannot agree with that.

The stats may say he's the greatest of all time, but i don't think that he is.
Sadly we'll never know how many titles Senna would have won, but i'm sure that Shumi would not have got his seven (eight?)had he been around. I know that Hill and Villeneuve probably wouldn't have got one either
