Re: F1 2006 season
Finally a fast but reliable McLaren with the new V8 engine after they scraped the previous V8 (and denying it of course) and later confirming an all new engine. Kimi did 96 laps the best time was 1:15.223 half a second faster then Alonso.

Re: F1 2006 season
I thought I should throw these in just for loose comparison.
V.Rossi and M.Schumaher =same corner, different cars (rossi f2004, schu F248 '06), different driving lines, different body language etc.etc

Re: F1 2006 season
Fellow F1 fans.
Just over a week to go As much as it hurts me to say, Renault look to have the strongest all round starting package from what I've watched on Motors TV & ITV in the shape of pre-season programmes.
I also think Williams / Cosworth will provide a few shocks too but once Schui gets out on those replaceable Bridgstones and knocks in a few blinding laps, he & Ferrai will come good. Perhaps not out of the box but give it a few races. After all, there can't be much Ferrari don't know about V8 engines
For me, there is & can only be one winner. For the rest of you, I wish your chosen Pilots the best of luck
PS. AS some of the posts went missing, I still want Sato if I form a UK dodgem team
Cheers,

Re: F1 2006 season
I'm heartbroken and noone here has complained about it. Change the rules, and do what you want with the cars, but give me Spa. What is a F1 season with Spa? The best track in my opinion and one day I'm going to go over there and drive it myself. On my list of 101 things to do before I die.

I agree with you completely. I was still hopeful that somehow they will put Spa back on the list. But it's not going to happen. And if that's not enough- the track will undergo modifications before coming back to f1. I hope they will not screw it up!!

Modifications could mean a lot. As you say they could screw it up completely, or make one or two safety improvements. Do you have any idea of the proposals?

Yep I think that they (Renault) look very good indeed (understatement). I also think that Honda is ripe for a win or two.
"Give it a few races" – they don't have the luxury of a few races. They need to be on top from the word go. Challenges will be coming from everywhere. There are a lot of fast cars, hungry drivers and desperate ones as well. It will be great stuff no doubt!!

Well I heard that most of the talk is about improving/upgrading infrastructure but somehow I'm paranoid that they'll do much more then that. It’s a shame anyway you look it at.

Re: F1 2006 season
Poor Kimi. Nothing has changed for him. Still needs a push from the stewards He will never buy a Mercedes and the free mercs that he may have he'll give them to people that he doesnt like as gifts. The most ominous sign for everyone is that the champs(Renault) did only 13 laps each good enough for fifth and eight(Alonso/fisi).
Honda/ferrari did the same with not many laps on their sunday "race" machines but ferrari ran in both sessions and Honda/Renault/williams only in the second session. And Williams are just playing cat and mouse out loud with just a few laps done 5 each. It will be mayhem sat practice and qualifying. Can’t wait anymore!!!

Re: F1 2006 season
Well we the fans voted for this particular qualifying format so it better be good But I don't like the fact that they will still actually qualify with race fuel on board.

Re: F1 2006 season
May be of interest to Australian F1 fans....
If you haven't already noticed, it seems that Channel 10 is televising the Qualifying to Sundays F1 race at 1.25 am .
Hopefully they continue to do so, as normally, apart from the Australian GP , we do not see the Qualifying.
