Bye bye Jaguar!

Can't say that they left a mark on F1 for any right reasons.

More worrying is that this may herald the end of Ford as an engine supplier which would take two more teams down. Then which other suppliers will follow suit?

Keep up the good work, soon only Ferrari will be left...

...who is going to put up F1 money with no chance of winning?

Re: Bye bye Jaguar!

Looks like they're shutting the Jag factory as well

If this is what can happen when corporations buy out famous brands then I hope Alfa's future is more secure

Re: Bye bye Jaguar!

Jaguar is the first of a long list of unprofitable car companies being scaled back and ultimately killed off. Mitsubishi is next, mark my words.

Re: Bye bye Jaguar!

I'd heard that the jag F1 team was going to be replaced by a ford one as they need to do the work on the "global brand"..........

Re: Bye bye Jaguar!

Despite all the happy assurances, I still think Minardi had better start looking for a new supplier.

It's sad to see Jaguar pull out, but the economic reasons are completely understandable.

Minardi confirm 2005 Cosworth engine deal

Following the announcement from Ford Motor Company this afternoon concerning its decision to bring its current Formula One participation to a conclusion at the end of the current season, the Minardi F1 Team confirmed that there is a contract in place with Ford-owned Cosworth Racing for the supply of engines to the Italian team in 2005.

"Minardi has enjoyed a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Cosworth Racing over the years, and in light of today's announcement, we will be working closely with Cosworth representatives to find a workable solution regarding engine supply arrangements for next season," comments Minardi Team Principal, Paul Stoddart. "We are confident of being able to arrive at a suitable arrangement."

"On a personal note, all of us at Minardi have been saddened by today's news, but fully understand the economic realities involved in competing in this sport as it is currently structured. Our best wishes go out to all the staff involved, many of whom are personal friends as well as work colleagues."
