Re: Rossi Tax Deal

IIRC Rossi earns in the region of $30M a year !!

(I'm not sure if that figure is a total - including sponsorships - or just what Yamaha pay him )

Re: Rossi Tax Deal

"Former motorcycling world champion Valentino Rossi has reached agreement to hand over 19m euros (£26m) in unpaid taxes to the Italian authorities. "

How is 19m Euro's equal to 26m pounds??

Re: Rossi Tax Deal

Wouldn't 19m euro be closer to 12.5m pounds???? If he earns 30m dollars (£15m) each year that would be about 5 years tax....which if he has omitted to pay would be about right I suppose

Re: Rossi Tax Deal

He hasn't paid taxes in a while using off shore deposits but still lives in Italy in practice.

He is a rich man indeed.

Re: Rossi Tax Deal

And a very talented 'bike rider too !!

He said he originally moved from Italy to get a 'quiet life away from his fans'... i wonder if that was entirely true then

Re: Rossi Tax Deal

Considering how 'rabid' Italian fans are....I suspect there may be a little truth in the comment

Re: Rossi Tax Deal

Nope, he wanted the kind UK tax system which allows you to be taxed only on your onshore income (about zero for Vale) and not look at your offshore money.

Clearly, he was going to get taxed when he'd "import" money back to England but he never really did.

However, he did "import" money into Italy to buy several houses, yachts, cars, etc.

Re: Rossi Tax Deal

Pile of crock from an overpaid sportsman

He's in Italy all the time chaps (hence why he needs to pay taxes). The "oh leave me alone" bit is just for show and it didn't work.

He had to pay up!

Re: Rossi Tax Deal

He took probably some dodgy advice and got greedy, hence he had to pay (btw, he only paid 20% of what the IRS wanted at the beginning of the investigation).
