Alfa Romeo sponsors Superbikes in 2008

Alfa renewed its sponsorship of the World Superbike Championship in 2008. The 159 will be the safety cars at the races and a 159 3.2 will be given away to the rider who bags most pole positions in the year.

I'd just wish they'd get back into BTCC and WTCC

Re: Alfa Romeo sponsors Superbikes in 2008

Fully agree with you Kevin, would prefer to have seen N-Tech receive budget to stick with Alfa 156 for one more year in WTCC. Disappointted 159 is not being raced, in particular, considering its torsionally rigid chassis. The Alfa 159 is the first mid-ranged Alfa saloon not to have been raced since the early 80's, the 75, 155 and 156 all hit the race track in their day. Shame

It was a real shame about that, would've been a pretty amazing day but for the weather. I was there too! I got tickets for Donington as well, now that was a brilliant day out, especially with JT winning the first one Even got to invade the track after the first race at Schwantz curve

Good news that Alfa are continuing their sponsorship, it's got to be good exposure for the company. After all, bike riders are just as much petrolheads as those who just drive cars, possibly even more so, it's got to be a big market to crack into if they can convince the bikers that an Alfa isn't just a car...... it's like riding a bike...... something that gets under your skin and stays there forever

Same here They are missing a trick not being in them that was/is the whole popint of Alfa's there crazy racing cars. And look how well the 156 did up to last year. Still winning races in a 9 year old car and even the mighty set up that BMW had couldn't catch the Alfa on the faster tracks.

Re: Alfa Romeo sponsors Superbikes in 2008

It's a shame the Aprilia RSV-4 (unveiled today) isn't going to be racing until 2009 now.

I've said it before, but in terms of an overlapping client base, Aprilia/Alfa is a better tie up than Ducati/Alfa
