Not Happy N Tech replace Alfa 156 with Honda Accord

N-Tech have announced that James Thompson will replace his venerable Alfa Romeo 156 Touring car with a Honda Accord in the 2008 WTCC.Its a shame Alfa have pulled out of World Touring cars. I feel the 159 could have worked despite its size, if not the 147 could have been used as a stop gap until the 149 arrives and failing that Alfa could have throw a budget at N Tech to keep the flag flying with the 156 which was still competitive. I hope Alfa are not contemplating leaving Touring cars for good, there are some rumours they may move to FIA GT's where Maserati and Ferrari currently race.

The FIA GT championship Ferraris and Maserati's are private entries though, and officially nothing to do with FIAT.

And if the 8C does indeed end up racing in GT's (as is strongly rumoured) it will be in the GT2 class, racing the independant F430's and Porker 911s

The Accord should be a good race car and if anyone can get a result out of it, Tommo can and will

I'd love to see Alfas on the grid, but failing that I'll be cheering on the Brits in whatever they're driving!

Go N Technology, go James!!!

Thommo will have to go some to beat those diesel Leons !!

(dear usual suspects.. check out the second half of the year/season points scoring before your start the usual diesels are sh1te routine .... if Muller had been in that car all year he'd have been champion)

IMO even AP will have his work cut out to hold onto his unbeaten run this year !!

Sad but true, Nomad, I can see the FIA having to step in and make some mid-season rule changes to even things up between the diesels and everyone else, but by then it'll be too late and Muller will be uncatchable

Re: N Tech replace Alfa 156 with Honda Accord

James Thompson's Alfa 156 WTCC Touring car has been purchased by Swedish Touring car driver Mattias Andersson to run in the 2008 STCC, he will be assisted by N Technology engineers. Andersson's best finish in the 2007 STCC (in a 156) was third place. Good to see the N Tech boys will be keeping their hand in on Alfas after all.

Re: N Tech replace Alfa 156 with Honda Accord

The N-Tech Honda will not make this weekends WTCC round as the car is not ready yet to compete, shame for Thommo. Alfa Romeo should have stuck with N-Tech and Thommo with the 156 which was still ultra competitive in the 2007 WTCC in Thommo's hands despite its age.
