Alrighty then. I'll be there this weekend. (sorry)

Driving up there on saturday morning, driving in the afternoon, Pistenklause in the evening, some sleep in Kottenborn and some more driving on sunday.

Looks like rainy conditions, but it should be pretty quiet on track.

Sorry Vamos. Kottenborn is filled with 6 dutchie's on saturday.

I'm going with the GTA. It has wintertyres on and everything is ok. 156 is still waiting for front and rear brakes. I'll be taking it slow since they are predicting lots of rain. GTA is safe and comfortable for such a trip.

To bad you can't make it this time, hope to see you again soon.

There were hardly any cars today But there were a couple fully modded cars (German) with TuV (BMW e30 M3 for example)

Re: nurburgring 2008

Righto.. On behalf of Peter K.

Hi and Happy New Year to everyone!

Anyone planning for a trip to the Ring around Easter? I am definitely there, already booked a room with Ringrooms in Kottenborn. Ringrooms-Pension/Gästezimmer/rooms am Nürburgring - Home

Initially a couple of us was talking about organizing a trip again this year, but to be honest we are not too keen on the idea. Reason: It seems The ring is no so popular that Hotels/Pensions in the area are getting very hard to come by, and as a consequence most of the hotels have tightend the booking precedures. For an Easter stay, they now expect payment in advance by end January/beginning feb. I dont blaim them as there really isnt many good consecutive TF days in the calender this year.

By booking as soon as the May TF schedule was released, I managed to secure 14 beds with Pension Zimmer located on the main road in Nuburg Village, (next to motorsport Hotel). http://www.pension-zimmer.de/1001.htm Excellent place, resonably priced at ca. 75 euro for a double with breakfast. (there are some Triple rooms which are a bit cheaper)

More or less everything in the area is now fully booked for Easter. Because of this new rule with payment so early in advance, I don't want to assume the responsibillity or outlay for the rooms, so I am planning to cancel the reservation by end of this month. If any of you are interested in take over the booking (or part of it), please let me know, and we can coordinate it before i send the cancellation. Just be aware that you will have to pay and deal with the Pension directly. I assume they expect payment end of this month or early feb.

Hope to see you there!

brgds
Peter

P.S will probably also be there may 3rd to may 6th

Idea Re: nurburgring 2008

For those of you that not necessarily want a room, there is a great camping for visiting the Nurburgring too:
Platz

Very clean sanitary, very friendly service. Every week-end there are between 4 and 30 Dutch Nurburgring.nl forum members staying over. (sometimes even more then 30 actually !). Highly recommended.

Their website is in German and Dutch, but I think you know what a phone number looks like, so give them a ring and check it our for yourselves, if you can't read their website.

PS: I do not get any sponsoring etc from this camping; just a personal advice for Ring visitors.

PS 2: I would advise NOT go around easter. Too many (mainly) Brits that can't decently drive a car are driving on the Nurburgring then: result is many, many accidents, which causes the track to be closed for periods of time during this week-end. (It seems anybody wants to beat Jeremy's time the first time around , which, eventhough he's not a very good track-driver at all, is close to impossible )
Traffic jams when going on and off the track too; if you want to 'drive' better take an other week-end !

Re: nurburgring 2008

Have I missed the date that Peter has secured the rooms for?

Will not having an Alfa anymore mean you won't talk to me (or let me join in)?

More seriously, I will be going out a few times this year. If I can coincide that with a social event with you all, then so much the better.
