Hello everyone. First of all thanks very much for braving the weather on Saturday and supporting the first of hopefully many charity fund raising track days at Llandow. Everyone I spoke to seemed to have a smile on their face and at no point in the day did I see the track empty, which is a good sign considering the terrible conditions. I was really very pleased with the standard of driving and John the chief marshal also had nothing but praise for what he saw out on the circuit. Obviously the bravest driver of the day award would have to go to one of the open top duo but I have to say a special well done to Alex king in the Westfield Hyabusa who obviously had his work cut out judging by by the amount of wheel spin I could hear down the pit straight!
What originally made this event possible was the generosity of the circuit owners Sharon and Tony. They had agreed to give us the circuit for £500, a figure that would enable them to pay for the marshals and the ambulance cover, a very kind offer indeed considering the usual charge for a Saturday event is £2000 + the vat. But it would seem that they took pity on us poor folk stood out in the rain and are now insisting that they want no payment what so ever for the use of their track. This really is a extraordinary offer as the payment for the marshals has come out of their own pockets.
So the, break down of the funds goes like this.
12 cars at £90 = £1080
1 car @ £100 (thank you Paul Jackson, white Vauxhall "Taxi")
Passenger rides £19 (thank you Dave Edwards Honda S2000
Total £1199
But it doesn't end there, my friend Rachel Trehye works for a big city of London bank and any charitable donation she makes, up to £3000 is matched by them! (some kind of tax fiddle no doubt. So the total amount raised by you good people for the Little Princess Trust and the Edward Evans Foundation, cancer research Wales is...
£2398.00
Thanks again and I will be in touch in the new year with some more dates and possibly some new venues. Do feel free to spread the word amongst the various motor clubs and forums you no doubt belong to, if you know someone who may be interested, get them to contact me and I will add them to the mailing list.
Best Regards, Marc Wojtanowski
N.B. Please find below a link to some pictures taken by Malcolm Paris and his son, do e-mail me with any more pictures you may have and I will distribute them to the other drivers.
