On Sunday August 20th, the Yorkshire Section of the AROC will be holding a combined Family Day Out and Auto Test at Sutton Park, Sutton–on–the-Forest near York and warmly invite all AROC Members and Members of other Forums and their families to join them!
Sutton Park is a charming lived-in mansion built in 1730 and is open to the public complete with its Award-winning gardens, Woodland walks, a children’s adventure playground and its excellent high quality Tea Rooms. The Yorkshire Section has private and exclusive use of an area of parkland for AROC Members – and their families – to enjoy which is ideal for picnics and barbeques!
AROC Members with long memories may recall the popular Auto-Tests that were run as part of the Northern Alfa Day events in previous years when it was held at Nostell Priory near Wakefield. It is our intention to “test the water” at Sutton Park to gauge the popularity of these type of runs by holding - just for fun - a low-key, low to mid-speed precision Auto Test – in, out and around a series of tactically and craftily placed traffic cones!
Open to anyone wanting to “have a go” with no extra charge to the entry fee and as many times as you like! Do please note though that, in deference to (the owner of the Mansion) his Lordship’s upkeep of the parkland, we reserve the right to refuse entry to the competition to any rally-bred Imprezzas or similar. Please ‘phone the Yorkshire Section if in doubt.
Sutton Park is in the village of Sutton-on-the-Forest just seven miles north of the York outer ring-road at Clifton Moor on the B1363 York to Helmsley road. From the north, after passing through Easingwold on the A19, turn left towards Huby and right at the Huby/Tollerton crossroads. Sutton Park is well signposted from all directions.
Come and have a go and test your driving skills and keep the family happy at the same time! Entry to Sutton Park Family Day Out and Auto Test will be a bargain £3.00 per car!
The fun starts at 11.00am
