trackday is on
Ok Summers almost hear, well in the next few months anyway, and its time for maximum speed. Due to making a few leads recently, I might be able to organise a track day for us all on one of the fast, top race tracks of the UK.
But before i go much further in trying to sort something out i need to know how many people are interested, as the more people we have the cheaper it becomes for us all. I'll be trying to get this for a full day and see about arranging some food as well, plus i know of someone who can take photo's (proffesional) or even if any of you people want to help organise it, or if anyone has anything else they would like to see at the track let me know
This is still only provisional as it all depends on overall cost and availability of the tracks, But wouldn't it be good for an all Alfa track day.

Re: The Race Is On!
Love to give it a go - if i can bring my 156v6. I`ve always wanted to find its limits as it doesn`t have as good feedback to the driver as the 155 and I get nervous of ditching it!
Count me in if its within about 2-3 hours travel time from Hull (or less).

Same goes for me. It would work out cheaper if the rest of AO were welcome too.
We already have an Alfa track session at Knockhill every year, so I'll get to "race" anyway.

Re: The Race Is On!
Marlon,
When are you planning the Knockhill event?
I'm planning to be back in Scotland during July / August and was thinking to try and get some Alfa stuff in during that time - ofcourse I'll be with a hire car and not my Selespeed.

Welcome or not I might come
Depends where, when, costs, etc - Central track...Donnington!
Gotta get the charger fitted beforehand though
Baz - try your current insurers for one off track day cover
or try HIC (herts insurance co), they sorted my track day cover on my escort & westie for about an extra 50 notes per year... but I imagine it will be more expensive to get a one off cover from a different insurer...

The Knockhill track evening is penciled in for sometime in April. Visit AROC Caledonia for more info.

I've used these people in the past.

It's not exactly cheap though, typically about Ł80 for Ł4000 cover with Ł1000 excess.
To be honest, I don't bother anymore, accidents aren't as likely as you might expect!

Re: The Race Is On!
sorry this is taking a while, but i've been mega busy up in wales on anglesey race track, getting my race license. Anyway sounds like enough interested so we might be in for a cheap and decent track day, anyone can come, as long as you are attached to an Alfa, but i'm looking for around 30-40 people to make it cheap and worth while, so if we cant get enough alfa's, then we might have to let the one or two pretend boy racers (corsa drivers) on the track...... then push them off
Anyway i should know something by the end of this week. speak to you soon people.
oh yeah and as for insurance, i wouldn't bother, unless your planning to flip it or head for the tyre wall there's not much point, if you do have a serious accident and everyone is all right, just tell the insurance company it happened down the road. But this is totaly upto you... anyway motor racing is a "none contact" sport.

Good one! Would look pretty on a tombstone! I instantly remarked it in my testament.
I would be interested, too. ItŽs a long way from Germany but anyway - there are not too much 155 events down here.
Cheers,
Till

Re: The Race Is On!
Count me in, been wanting to do a track day since I got the car!
Whats quicker round a track, V6 with heavy front end but better torque or 2.0 16V with lighter front end but less power? ;-)

I'd be up for it.
Plus you'd all get to hear a proper alfa engine
I might even have an exhaust by then as well!

Re: The Race Is On!
ok people, the circuits i wanted i can still get, however it will take time, due to regulations (business stuff/ red tape/ dates/ etc). However i do have the chance of a full track day at the Castle Combe circuit, between bristol and oxford at the end of March. I have to admit, that for us Northern people, it is not the closest, however it is going to be pretty cheap for a full day (prices stil to be issued) plus there will be a few driving/race instructors if anyone fancies a bit of tuition, and i might be able to sort out some lunch for us all.
I will be looking at the circuit this weekend to see how good it is and i will let you know more on monday or tuesday of next week.
Let me know what you think, I will send full details of circuit diagrams, directions, etc when and if everyone is happy on this venue. It will be a top day!
We need to get around 45 - 50 cars to make this work, So it is open to everyone with Alfa's, and if you want to take passengers in the cars, this will be free, and additional drivers can drive your car on the circuit at only a small charge.
Full details to follow very soon... Be Warned this will be a blast!!!
We Live, We Breed, We Die..... How Fast Depends On This Tack Day!
