Following the instructions exactly.

- Inserting USB Stick
- Turn key to MAR-ON
- 'UPDATE IN PROGRESS' comes on screen.
- I leave it for a few minutes, the radio comes on and 'UPDATE IN PROGRESS' goes off the screen
- it just displays the home screen with the date, I leave it sat on that.
- about a minute later it says 'USB UPDATE ERROR 10'

The update manual says it means i removed the USB stick, well I didn't and I didn't touch any controls.

The log file it puts on the USB has the following in it:



Now the whole thing is in Italian

I have the same problem... blue&me and radionav voices are in italian now....

i have 2011 mito w(without the aux) and i tried to do the 5.6 update but get USB configuration Error message. any ideas peeps?

I had to take mine to the dealer to get them to fix it.
Mines definitely a 2nd Gen, car's only a couple of months old.

No noticeable changes, No A2DP

It seems I can finally transfer from handsfree to my phone with E52. And text reader works finally.

yep... I tried every combination possible and the results are always the same....

Will the dealers do the update? My 159 was bought brand new in Nov 2011, 1750tbi-ti and the text reader doesn't work, and it doesn't ffwd or rwd mp3's and I'm having MP3 display issues that I didn't have in my 2005 Punto HGT. I was just thinking perhaps 7 years later technology would have been better and not worse...

I never had phone problems with it yet though. It pairs with the phone within seconds and call quality is exceptional.

Finally got around the updating - I'm usually really hesitant about this sort of thing having had an expensive phone and a media player have problems with firmware corruption.

The assisted mode eased my mind a little bit, used it and all went well.

The only part of the process that irked me a little was when the radio switched on and the usb update message disappeared about a minute into the process.. turns out I hadn't read the instructions properly and missed the part where they tell you to wait until the 'installation in progress' screen showed. Just lucky I re-read those instructions and waited it out, had I turned off the car thinking it was done instead of waiting that few minutes it probably would have borked the system.

Aaargh. Got myself an italian speaking Guilietta now. Did everything according to the update manual.

What types of memory sticks have you guys been sucsessful with?

Update:
My Giulietta is now speaking english again. Thanks to buying a SanDisk Cruzer 4GB stick. The update took only about 5mins and everything is working perfect now.

Hi Radosuaf,
What phone are you using to get the text reader working?
I had a HTC HD2 and now have a galaxy S3 but havent done the b&m update yet.
No text reader on either yet.

4Gb or less is not a guaranteed solution. I have tried everything from 256Mb to 8Mb. 7 different sticks and tried each formatted as FAT16 and FAT32. My system just refuses to update.

Even tried disconnecting battery first for 30 mins and still no luck! Dreaded Error 10 code.

Hi Alfred, it's Nokia E52 - it's Symbian based and these should work flawlessly. I also have a Sony X10 mini pro and this of course does not work with the text reader. No Android phone does, as far as I know.

Strange that no androids seem to work. Mine has the protocols needed i believe.
I have an old P800 that is symbian, i might have a play to see if that works.
I know there are not many listed on the blue & me website that work fully.

I thought that the problem with the text message reader was which version of bluetooth your phone uses. If it's v1 or early so to speak it's ok, but if it's a later version it won't share text messages because allowing sharing of text messages is considered a security risk - it means that if any device wanted to download your text messages they could so the protocol was changed.

Eeehm i dont think yous are helping eatch other like.firstly size of the stick doenst matter as long as not bigger than 8gb and who on the western hemisphere still has a nokia E52?

Have you contacted alfa romeo?
Are you sure you have a 2nd gen Blue and Me?
You can try the 5.6 updated, if it is a 2nd gen it won't update (I tried on mine, wich is a 2nd gen Mito).
Last try: update to 5.5 then to 6 and see if it goes ok.

Do you have the latest firmware on your E52?
To check dial *#0000#.
The latest is version 091.003
If you don't have that version, download nokia suite, and update it.
If for some reason you don't reach the the latest version (it happens with mobile branded phones) send me a pm.

The P800 is Symbian UIQ wich is a lot different =)
But since it is older it may work, like older symbians too.

Nokia E52 were great business phones (Well I had 2, with bad experiences due to speaker breaking about 3 times, but they are great).

The screen displayed the following:

Update in progress (immediately)
Update in progress (after about 3 mins)
Installation in progress (after another 10 minutes)

Then nothing. I sat in the car for a further 20 minutes and it never said "installation completed" or anything like that, as mentioned in the PDF instructions. I've tried two different USB memory sticks, both formatted to FAT32 and within the allowed size range (above 256MB, under 32GB).

Mine didn't say either, but took very short time (maybe 2min total) and when it "finished" the radio started playing.
I used an OCZ Rally2 1Gb pendrive (it is a very fast pendrive).
