bose system 147 ??

Hi just woundering is there a very noticible sound difference between standard speakers and with the bose system.

I have a 1000 watt fli sub and amp but i dont want to change the standard head unit is there any way of connecting this without the outputs on the head unit .

Which one would have the most sound difference ,

As the standard speakers are shocking when turned up a bit .

Thanks Alan

the standard stereo is a shocker, the Bose system merely makes it more so, all bass and treble, no mid-range, no finesse, just shrill and boom boom boom.

Not Blaupunkts finest.......

You can retrofit bose fairly easily although TBH as purple says it ain't that great. I have bose in the GTA and an aftermarket alpine stereo with xplod door speakers and a small sub in the boot of the SW. It is far superior IMO. Buy a descent set of 4 components (composit cones rather than paper) Leave the tweeters and headunit and see what you think. I notice a dramatic improvement just by doing this

The BOSE system is definitely better than the basic factory setup. It offers an amplifier (more power/clarity), better speakers (2-way coaxials with reasonable woofer/tweeter combination), and a small sub, and appropriate crossover filters so that the speakers don't prematurely distort from too much bass.

An aftermarket system is usually better again, subject to quality and installation.

You're not quite comparing apples with apples: adding a subwoofer to the basic factory system (ie: with factory speakers, no amplifier) vs a complete BOSE system. However, the FLi sub should easily outperform the BOSE version, but you'll still have pretty poor speakers that have no hope of keeping up.

You can connect it up via high level audio inputs to the amplifier; if it doesn't have direct high level inputs, you'll need a line output converter. You'll also need to install appropriate powerwiring, fused, directly from the battery. Given your question, I suspect you'll need it professionally installed.

Another point to remember is the bose is a 2 Ohm set up so you need to be careful if you upgrade that system. It is better to get speakers with the correct impedance. You normal system is not 2 Ohm

I personally found that by adding a decent sub with a high to low convertor it enabled me to turn down the bass to around 0-+2 which meant that the door speakers could actually handle a decent volume without distorting.

I also found that the woofers were actually OK as were the tweeters. The woofers just can't handle low bass all that well but by adding the sub it does that for you.

I think the system in my 147 is brilliant !!

Lots of bass, nice mid and very sharp high end. The headunit has a 10 band equaliser in it's menus. Don't know what's in my car (2006 Ti) but it's the best standard thing I've heard in a car. Really no distortion at all even when pumping it loud with lots of bass. I tend to have the thing at volume 50.
