Where to put my ipod?

I have a Sony head unit with ipod control, which has an ipod lead hard wired into the back of it. I was goint to buy the ipod drawer, however they seem stupidly expensive as I do not require the lead that comes with it.

Does anyone have any other ideas of where to put my ipod/iphone? I don't really fancy the glove box as I may well smash my car up trying to get to my phone if it rings!

Also not sure about trying to fit a dock in my ashtray, as I did this in my last car (a vectra) and it was an absolute nightmare. Combined with not wanting to damage my interior (didn't care about my vectra - who does?)

Have the same dilemma as you, just installed the Xcarlink. I'm thinking of going down the velcro route but may permanent glue mark the surface (although solvent remover will do it.) let me know what you come up with!

The decision is personal. Use your eyes and your imagination, and put it where you think is best. Not really a question you have to ask about.

Basically, it can go anywhere you want. Say I suggest putting it in the boot with an extension cable, that probably won't agree with you.

FWIW, in my GT, I have my iPod under the passenger seat on the floor.

Do you have Bluetooth on your head unit? If so, I suggest getting a second hand iPod just for car music (should be cheap enough off ebay), feeding it through to your glove box and leaving it permanently plugged in and then you can leave your phone in your pocket and just use the Bluetooth if it rings.
