Moaning CD READ ERROR - advice needed

help my factory fit audio unit on my 57 159 2.4 jtdm keeps locking up when playing CDs. Play stops and READ ERROR appears, then switches to TUNER. Unfortunately this also seems to fool the system into thinking it's empty so the CD eject button does not eject the disc.

Have put disc cleaner through, makes no difference if purchased or burnt disc. If the power is left off for an hour or two the eject then works!

Any advice for sorting out the read problem - other then replacement?!

Thanks

Disc cleaners are not very good, and often cause more problems then they solve...
The best (only?) way is to remove the radio, open it up, and clean the lens of the cd player with some alcohol...

I have the exact same problem with my '07 159 1.9 JTDm. It is a real pain.

thanks - I'll give it a go. I've had it out before and it was an easy job to remove after fasioning a couple of hooks from a wire coat hanger.
