Stereo turns on automatically when I start the car?

OK I have a new LE Spider ... I initially had a problem where the stereo wouldn't pick up MW or LW ... so the dealer has fitted a new stereo ...

my question is .... should the stereo turn on every time I start the car ? Cos it does and it's starting to get annoying

is it a completely different model headunit to the original? if so, what model?

what happens if you manually turn the stereo off when you LEAVE the car. THEN when you return, and start the car...does it come on automatically?!

generally, if you manually turn it off when you leave, it should not come on when you return. but if it's on when you turn the key off (and it switches off automatically), it will come back on when you start the car. that is normal.

Yes it comes on when I start the car even if I've turned it off when I've previously left the car

as to what the headunit is ... I presume its a standard headunit for a current Spider ... doesn't look any different to the one that was originally in my car when I bought it a few weeks ago ... just that this one can actually pick up MW and LW

hmm, seems faulty then, unless it's a 'feature' (though i've not heard of a headunit like that, but have not played with the ones in the 159/brera/spider).

i think you need the dealer to sort it out again.

Perhaps a problem with the permanent +12V, keeeping it from remembering the settings... Can you switch the radio on with the igntion turned off ?

Or else maybe a setting in the menu somewhere ?
