Bertone News
Well, the firm is on the brink of bankruptcy, as mentioned in another thread about the Lancia Coupe' (which it seems that it won't be produced after all ).
By the end of April, there will be a decision as to whether to keep the coachbuilding part of the business. One of the projects being discusses is a Camper van and a car to be developed by Bertone alone. In any event, cuts of at least 50% of the workforce are expected.
Sad news for a historic coachbuilder.

Re: Bertone News
It is always hard for a coach builder to survive, especially when the founder doesn't live anymore.

Re: Bertone News
Read in the news that Bertone executives may be called by the Labour Ministry for a roundtable to analyse and discuss their business plans.
Hopefully, the company won't go down.

Such a shame. From the company that designed the GT too, non-the-less.

Re: Bertone News
Its such a shame that a styling house with such class like Bertone could not get work internationally from the Japanese or Koreans who really need their style and experience. The pool they swim in is too small to support all these specialists unless they can diversify.
I happen to think the Alfa Bertone coupe is probably the finest purest most perfect piece of automotive styling ever done. It looks as good today as when it first came out. Its so sad this name may well be lost.

agree. But those years weren't stifled by the crash regulations that designers have to consider today. For instance, the Lancia Flavia is an exceptionally delicate piece of design; and thus its fragile crash structure just wouldn't pass any safety test today unless it was made of a material that then priced it beyond the reach of the average punter.
I'm very sadden to hear about Bertone

Re: Bertone News
I'm not sure why, but the Marzal (cool name!) reminds me a bit of the Alfa Montreal.

Re: Bertone News
Bertone is now officially in the hands of Domenico Reviglio, a venture capitalist specialised in turnarounds.
Let's hope for the best.
