Whats the best car you`ve driven?

Me.........Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.

Thought 640bhp would be a bit of a handful but must say it was surprisingly docile. Grip was almost more amazing than the engine.Looks incredible outside, sounds immense but the inside more benefitting of a Punto! That engine`s torque is amazing, sounds incredible,15 minutes just wasn`t long enough.

Probably my Joss's GTA. Can't think of anything else special that I have driven, bar my friends Chim. It gave me a headache.

1979 Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

it wasn't just driving a car, it was an event.

And name another car that would have people waving at you in the street, and coming over to speak to you about it - which happened to me twice during the weekend I had it.
(Not counting the miserable petrol station attendee who said something grumpy about the 120 litre tank.)

Depends how you interpret best SM: But by your choice of transport how do you rate a '68 Stngray, or a Parisienne, or maybe a Mercury Commuter? : Thought so.

It is so hard to narrow down to just one car, as each one has its great points and its own character so I will list some of my favourites, I could go on and on and on and on but I don't want to bore you all!

One of my favourites is the 145 CL - Just a hoot, great engine, fun handling and still surprises many a boy racer and modern car, so for that alone it’s a legend!

1981 V8 Vantage - as above - an event!

E30 M3 - Great balance and great fun, the era just before BMW started to ruin it all and when M stood for Motorsport rather than Marketing

Joss's GTA was awesome once the KW's we fitted and all set up!

I won't go on anymore as I can add at least another 5 or 6 to that list!

Nice machine Mr.G : At the risk of being added to more Ig. lists, a few more tried, tested but never owned.

S3 Bentley, RR Shadow, DB6 Volante, RR Corniche, and a few 'E' Types. Managed to own one of the latter, just! Oh! I did have that AH 100 4, but never got it roadworthy! : maybe that would of been worth something now, as I recently read an AH 100 Test Car sold for £843,000, Bonhams described it as 'in barn find condition'. Am I moasting a bit? Well aren't we all??

+1

Been lucky enough to drive plenty of supercars/posh motors but never enjoyed anything more than a Caterham.

Equally no road car has ever come close to the fun of a Formula Renault or a Mk2 Escort Rally car

The Corniche suited my Moss Bros. of Charing Cross outfit with it's shiny peaked cap and cockade? The last word will be interpreted as rude, but it's just a hat badge really? Oh! it was accepted.

"Best" is a little subjective isn`t it? Other cars that made an impression ,also include 205GTI,TVR S1,various classic Minis,a tuned Alfasud, the old 916 Spider, but also had great drives in a Mondeo st170 and a Nissan 200sx.

Even my humdrum Focus was good fun on the roads of Bavaria and Austria last year so "best" doesn`t necessarily mean exotic...........................

Fair Enough SM. So it has to be my Lancia Thema turbo 16v that rates as one of 'the best' cars I have ever owned giving me the ultimate in service for fourteen long years. :,

For driving fun, a fully rally race prepared Peugeot 306 at Silverstone rally sprint.

For sheer brute force a VXR8 at Donnington, Alton Park and Rockingham.

For pleasure a DB5*

*I reversed it out of the garage, washed, dried and waxed it before driving it back into the garage a round trip of about 30 metres

Been in a few others but only as a passenger

DB4, DB5, DB6, DBS, V8.... in fact any Aston post DB3 and pre Gaydon (DB7s onwards are to generic and numerous) will have that effect.
