amazing sight this evening as i pulled up at the end of my road. a Lola T70 drove past!! :wow: Couldn't believe it as it tried to negotiate the speed bumps! here is a picture i managed to take as I followed it up the road. It was registered on an E plate, as in 1968. The sound was amazing as the clutch screamed when the driver was driving VERY slowly over the bumps.

:D

Funnily anough I read an article about Lola the other day as they are based just down the road from here in Huntingdon.

They pretty well went bankrupt two years ago, but have been bought up and diversifying into defence contracts and all sorts.

T70 was the definitive Eric Broadley 'off the shelf' big racing sports car in the 60s/70s. I never thought its looks would age, but it has done I suppose. I believe they have started building T70s again as road cars, but I could be wrong.

Great looking machine though.

It's just I have seen some brilliant take off's at the kit car shows, when I was a bit?? younger, and some were quite honestly, fantastic, with beautiful craftmanship, and attention to detail.:): You would be hard pressed with the two side by side, and no entrails on display.:):

alas no, slips; not seen that Lola before, but no longer surprised to see the odd rarity pass by locally, from a lovely blue Ferrari 330GTC4, to a Gullwing MB 300SL, to Carvers (I think that's the name of that mad three wheeler that leans into corners).

I know nothing at all about Lolas, so I couldn't say whether it's a real or a fake. But my money would be on it being real.

Also, there's a test track near by (in Chobham, I think) that a lot of the magazines (inc AutoItalia) use, so it's not surprising to see either lovely classics trundle by, or dead new, new cars, as they head off for testing at the track.

Which is how, one frightful morning, I saw my first Porsche Cayenne. Followed by another.

And another!

I bet AL, has seen some of the 'gear' I am talking about at the Sue Ryder, Thorpe Hall shows, back in the past? A brilliant was it a P20- P30??? round windscreen, single wiper, comes to mind as a superb copy, which was for sale at about thirty something K back some twenty odd yeas past! May have the model wrong,:(:

I grew up in love with that car. It was my first real solid idea of what a true racing car meant, if that makes sense. Saw Surtees driving it...

And, no, the design hasn't aged, still looks as glorious as it did in its heyday... I knew someone in Canada that had a replica. Absolute stunner. Never let me drive it, the bar steward...
