Yeah, I'm not convinced by that. Admittedly once
you gain access to the car it's a doddle to add a new key
but that still means they need to get into the car in the first place.
But getting into a keyless car is the easy part, apparently. I'm sure the method has been described on the forum already.
The constantly transmitted code (by the key or keycard) gets picked up and re-transmitted by a stronger transmitter, so the car thinks the key is next to it, and willingly opens the door. all it takes is someone following you within a few yards (easy in the shops) and another to get in the car. if the car thinks the key is inside, they don't even need to add another key, just press start and off they go. Once started, the person following you can go, no car stops the engine if the key is suddenly "lost".
yes, they do that aswell, the transmitters pick up the keys from inside the house, and the distance to the car doesn't matter. The small walkie-talkies are modified (or even work outright) to relay the signal. You know the kind.
I don't believe all the conspiracy theories about key codes being captured, the old gits on the Lexus forum fall for all this and blame key code captures everytime a Lexus is stolen.
no, the car is the receiver, not the sender. And yes there's internal and external antennas, but the key can be anywhere in the car.
