My wife bought a 14 plate MX5 a couple of months ago. I fear she likes the look of the Spider herself, nice engine, better spec for the price. Keep us up to date.
Bizarre how the Fiat looks Japanese and the MX5 looks Italian.
Looks like the babies got handed to the wrong mothers :biglaugh:
I do like the look of the Mazda, but one for the other half.
I don't think theyll be making many Classica (base models) as it's specced to make you want a Lusso for a (substantial) bit more. The Classical appealed to me be the residuals and spec such as 16" wheels are a typical price leader like the original Giulietta Turismo. There's virtually no discount at the moment as with the Giulietta when I got mine.
Abarth pricing to start from ~£30k... yikes. That is BMW m235i money... And a whole host of non convertible cars including Audi S3 and not far off the lovely Focus RS.
Oh, the drive?!
In south east London it's difficult to tell how a car behaves at speed but I can say that I liked the general substantial feel for a 1000kg car and the chunky short throw gearshift. The engine noise was good without being artificial. The steering was a bit rubbery and nothing like a hydraulic system , as is the norm nowadays. Despite being a low seating position the feel of viewing ahead was pretty informative, being used to Multipla and Kuga as well as the Giulietta. Overall , the idea of the car appeals to me and may well be approved by the wife. A new Giulietta for three years would make it eight years plus of driving the same car even if I'd be talking about matte grey this time. But that and generally unoccupied seats make the choice of another Alfa seem less compelling.
It's 2005 facelift with original clutch at 97500 miles and many battle scars. Whereas the other two cars look showroom fresh the Fiat ceased to be a couple of years ago. New belts just under a year ago and a new mot but didn't seem a tempting trade-in at the dealers !
I've never considered myself a convertible guy either! Maybe it's a life stage or I just need a change after mpvs and over five years with the Giulietta.

Just noticed the 'Autocar'.
Sadly probably similar nonsense to what we see in the Auto Express comic.
Thought it was a Maserati to start with from that side view, though it'll still have the ugly front and rear.
Yes, quite like the look of the coupe, its something Alfa should be reintroducing
They've always had a nack of making stylish coupe's , but a new one is probably still many moons away
Is the Giulia coupe still on the cards.
Last I heard it was going to be available around 2020. Yawn.
Cue2 - what's the latest? You probably know.
