What type is my 156? What should the V5 say?

Hi,
I recently got a 2001 156 2.0, described as being a 'Lusso' model. Thing is it doesn't seem to have some of the bits that other Lussos apparently have and the V5 mentions nothing about Lusso.

The V5 says-
Model/Type: 156 T.SPARK
Variant: A2100
Version: 28

Could someone with a 2.0 Lusso or a 2.0 TS tell me what's written on their V5?

Re: What type is my 156? What should the V5 say?

I think in 2001 they were still being sold as Turismo or Veloce models. Of the Veloce's there are 3 options; all get sports suspension, bigger wheels, carbon interior, side skirts etc, with either standard seats, recaro's, or leather.

The veloce gets smaller wheels, wood interior and normal suspension.

Can you describe your car, it will help diagnose which one it is - what are your seats like, whats the interior, side skirts? etc

Re: What type is my 156? What should the V5 say?

Cool - sounds like a plan
The VIN is: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I got it with standard 15" wheels; velour interior with arm-rest; light grey plastic dash inserts (no carbon or wood). It has front fog lights, elec windows all-round, air con, no sunroof and no headlamp washers.

I guess I need to know if it could feasibly be a 'Lusso'. If it is definately not and doesn't have an extras that make it 'like' a lusso, then I need to go back to where I got it from and ask nicely for the book-price difference back in hand.

Still wondering what the V5 is supposed to say. I imagine they all got registered in a consistent way in the UK

Really don't recommend advertising your car so blatently on here. Trust no one!! Always worth remembering that all cars come with different specs, depending on what the first owner wants when bought, so leather seats, air con, all optional extras, every car is different, blah blah blah. Puting your VIN number on here, little bit risky! Sure people on here are trustworthy, personally, i've had some great advice. Just be V careful!

Re: What type is my 156? What should the V5 say?

From looking it does appear yours is a Lusso. But we need someone on here who definately has a lusso to confirm. Although i'm not sure they did lusso's on the 156's in the pre facelift models?

Eper doesn't really help, just says its a high spec model, but dosn't say lusso/veloce etc. It says V3, Rich/Destintive? Maybe Lusso?

Anyone help? This has got me confused.

Re: What type is my 156? What should the V5 say?

I've got a June 2001 UK price list and the 156s are listed as
Turismo, Lusso, Veloce, and Veloce Leather Trim.

The wood effect steering wheel and console were an option - standard was titanium effect console and leather wheel. Also standard were 3rd rear head rest and inertia reel belt, leather, headlight washers and 15" alloys.

Sunroofs were not standard on any 156s.

Its a lusso, velour, 15's, armrest and headlight skooshers.

In 2002/2003, Lusso's came with leather, lamp skooshers and cruise control (and different wheels) over Turismo.

When it was facelifted the specs all went to **** again.

Re: What type is my 156? What should the V5 say?

AFAIK all 156 came with headlamp washers from launch. They deleted them from the Turismo to make it look a bit more basic.

But TBH the differences between a Turismo and a Lusso were few (until leather became standard in 2002). Don't think it would make much difference to the value now.

I have checked it on the warranty system and it is just a Turismo I'm afraid. On a 51 Plate, the Lusso did come with Leather & Headlamp Washers.
Hope this helps

Where've they gone then?

Do you have electric windows all round? There was a batch of Veloces which came in at the facelift which were less than UK spec. Some dealers sold them off cheaper, others "pretended they hadn't noticed bits were missing".

Still at least you don't have to fill your washer bottle up every other hour.

You took the words right out of my mouth!

The other thing on these models was that alot had Turismo on the bottom of the wings instead of Veloce as the Veloce was made from a Turismo by adding the Veloce pack.

Also these said Turismo on the V5 which caused a bit of hassle

Your cloth isnt really velour then if its a Turismo!

Some of those Veloce's had less gear than a Turismo, I seen a few with no steering wheel controls.

My 2000 Sportpacked TS has headlight washers, although they have been disconnected.. Also the V5 just says 2.0 Twinspark Manual, as do insurance companies records.

Exactly. I have full electrics and the wonderful (is it closed or open ) sunroof!

The seats are alfatex. Very comfy.

Re: What type is my 156? What should the V5 say?

My 2001 JTD, which is a Veloce, DOESN'T have headlight washers, although it has the nicer body coloured bump strips on the front and rear bumpers, but black plastic mirrors?

The V6 has orange dials, carbon interior but I don't know if it was a Veloce as standard, or what? Has headlight washers, leather, but no cruise.. Plus I have receipts for the high wing spoiler and side skirts - they were ordered in 2004 - if it is a Veloce or SP, shouldn't it have come with the skirts at least?

Alfa specs are so messed up - I don't think it matters whether you call them Veloce, Lusso, SportPack, Turismo, or just T.S. (as some do not have a trim code at all!)

Also, I've never seen the titanium interior in an old 156, just carbon or wood? Does anyone have a picture of it?

Weekend toy: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake, BMC CDA, decat pipe and SuperSprint rear box, FK coilovers, Dastek Unichip - my 245bhp beast!

Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!

Hmmm, looks good, better than wood anyway. I prefer carbon though.

I've seen a few similar to that, but silver instead of the titanium look.. DIY jobs, but professional looking ones.
