How do I make the carpet smell nice?
Hi Guys,
Not that my water leak is cured, and the carpets have dried out I can finally drive without the aircon on full hot and full blast to my feet! 
However, the carpet now smells bad. 
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to get it smelling neutral again without taking it out of the car?. I.e. not ponging of flowers or such like, just not smelling bad, either.

from the title, my initial responce was going to be femfresh!
my little one spilt washing powder all over our house, it smelt of washing powder for ages, maybe that would cover / kill a bad smell.

There is a product you can get which is produced by Rug Doctor (you can get it anywhere where you can hire the machine) it is called odour eliminator and uses microbes to "eat" the smell.
Works brilliantly - have used it on vomit before (when my daughter thre up all over her bed) and within a day the smell is completely gone. You just spray it on, cover with a damp towel/sheet and let those microbes do their job.
Try it - its about £5 a pop and worth every penny, smells nice too

The Knights Templar in the 16th century used to recommend the kissing (or licking) of a cats anus. You should then immediately kiss the floor carpet of your car.
(It worked for me - but I never saw our cat again!!!). It buggered off, never to be seen again..............

does it have to be male or female do you kiss its butt or lic it just one time or do you have to repeat depending on the carpet size.Remember the down side will be fur balls ,try using zoflora springtime i used this in my coach its bl00dy good stuff

Firstly make sure the carpet is clean http://autopia.org/forum/guide-detai...detailing.html, if the smell is still there, the cheapest option is baking soda. Sprinkle it on a dry carpet and leave on for several hours or longer then hoover up the residue.
If the smell is biological you could try Oxiclean or pet stain odour removers

Was it a Ginger Tom?
It may have been the one that bounced off my windscreen this morning. And since I was about the third car to hit it there may still be some ar5e on one of the windscreen wipers, I'll go and have a look.
