Residuals really are the last thing on my mind Cul as mean as it sounds.
This is my 2nd 159. The 1st was rejected. It's a £24k car and as such the owner of the vehicle should have a car to an acceptable standard of supply. I was promised time and time again that this car would be perfect.
I would have thought that you chaps would be more concerned with keeping your 159 running well, tip top shape, aesthetically pleasing and ARUK doing their part to support you, rather than the 'what if' value 2 or 3 years down the road.
FYI the 159 does actually have a half decent resale value
I'm experiencing deja vu and amnesia at the same time.. I think I've forgotten this before.

Re: Am I Jinxed Or What?!?!?
I'd say it was bleedin' obvious from the snaps
you took.
Can't you send them by email?
Or is that too technological for an ARUK dealer?

Yep Nev - I did that on the day I took them. Emailed them straight over.

Re: Am I Jinxed Or What?!?!?
Hunter, you stick to your guns mate; Alfa Romeo GB have been spouting on in the press about how things are going to be 'better this time' with the new PDI centre , booting out some of the worst dealers etc, and then what I'd previously regarded as one of the best (if not the best) Alfa dealers stilltreats you like crap, then resoundly, yes, get What Car involved, AR deserve it with both barrels...And I stillsay Mangos should get off their arses and fetch the bloody thing at their time and expense...What a bunch of muppets all round...
Good luck fella.

One story, among many, in one magazine, among many (esp which just support "received wisdom" of the press anyway) will hardly make a visible dent in 159 residuals...
imo, of course.

That is just so cr@p after what he said
Keep a record of how long it takes to get there and back and how many miles etc and then claim the cost of them

All parties have had enough time and chances to sort this latest fiasco out.
WhatCar? have already been in contact with ARUK press dept/marketing.
:headbang:
Well done fella but about time too

Cul. ARUK & some (if not most) of the dealers do this and I personally can't believe Hunter has given them so many chances to resolve things (yet they still persist to fcuk it up ).
Really does my head in

Re: Am I Jinxed Or What?!?!?
I am taking 1/2 day off work next Monday 17th to take the car to be inspected. Based on that inspection, hopefully something will then happen to reslove my outstanding issues.

That's appalling. I'd like to hear from Gordon Carr exactly why their customer service is so bad. As Kevin's said, make sure you claim for all incurred expenses, including time off work if you're taking it as unpaid leave.

Re: Am I Jinxed Or What?!?!?
Sorry, but my view of this is as follows:
H started with a nice shiny new car.
It was faulty. Faulty enough for AR
to agree to replace it.
He was given a botched respray replacement.
Now I don't know about anyone else, but that
would leave a frikkin' bad taste in my mouth
after shelling out for a nice brand new car.
And ending up with some apprentice respray reject,
even if the respray was just to repair some very light
damage.
Only decent (PR stunt) AR UK could do now
would be to offer him a brand new replacement
and swallow the cost of this fiasco.

Re: Am I Jinxed Or What?!?!?
Nope - don't think that'll wash
Going to take a deep breath, put a smile on my face, get it over and done with, sprayed up, everything sorted and pray that I have no more issues in the future.
TBH I'm seriously thinking of chopping the 159 in and buying something else. There's not much now outstanding on it now and might pay it off early and stand the penalty.
I have to admit I've been looking around at other vehicles the last few weeks - even since having this replacement 159
Another AOer with similar 159 issues as me is probably getting a Saab Aero. I'm leaning towards BMW, Audi et al.
A co-worker has a Lexus 220d and the customer service he has is amazing. They pick the car up, drop off a loan car, bring back his car etc etc etc In fact they bend over backwards to make his life easy. I couldn't have had more different experience the last 6 months
Really not sure which way to go

Oh mate
I only wish someone would even APOLOGISEto me.
Nobody has even said sorry Mr H for the way you've been treated or how the replacement car has disappointed you.

Thats what customer service should be like when you fork out for any new car, never mind a 'prestige' brand like AR.
I suppose once you've taken the day off to take the bloody thing to Mangos for them to 'inspect it' (check for white stick and labrador) at your expense (again..), they'll then expect you to take it back again, (at your expense) to be put right(ish)..?
Where are you Mangos and ARUK? Lets hear some grovelling apologising for all the sh*t you're putting a loyal AR buyer through...
This kind of 'service' SO ****ES ME OFF..

Re: Am I Jinxed Or What?!?!?
Erm, yes I guess I'll have to take it back to them once again to sort out the paint and the bonnet badge.
...and then probably again when the 1st service comes up (I'll get it done at 12k miles and not the 18k mile suggestion )
Not too sure about the surging engine though. They have to check and see if the swirl valves have been replaced or not. All the 159/Brera's I have driven (I think 7 in all) haven't had this 'surge' off and on through the revs and it's only developed the last 400miles or so.
I'm working in Italy for 9 days at the end of this month (21st-30th) so chances are it'll not get sorted until October

Re: Am I Jinxed Or What?!?!?
What a sorry state of affairs
And this involves the dealer we are all led to believe is the best Alfa dealer in the country.
I will stick with my independant. He gives a sh1t.
