North East Alfa Specialists?

Theres a rumour that the main Alfa Dealership in Newcastle is going to be no longer leaving a gap in the Alfa market.
Other than Lyles is there any other recommended outfit who are capable of working on Alfasin the North East but Tyneside in particular?
Many thanks.

Re: North East Alfa Specialists?

Check out indie recommendations thread at the top of this forum- Bluebell Motor Company in Newton Aycliffe gets a mention. If that's a bit far, I think there's an Alfa specialist in Whitley Bay but I can't remember the name.

Re: North East Alfa Specialists?

Can certainly recommend Bluebell Motor Company in Newton Aycliffe. There is also Bonello Auto Services, on Stepney Bank, Byker, leading down to the Ouseburn, tend to specialise in 60/70's series 105 cars, other works seems to be Peugeot/Citreon repairs.

Alfa Tech are on the Foxhunters Trad. Est. behind the Ice Rink, never used them but I've heard they are decent people, a mate of mine is in the car trade and he says they are fine, ask for Robin if you contact them.
Lyles I can recommend as I've used them before and found they were excellent, although others on here have said they were useless.

I live in Whitley Bay and have used AlfaTech and Lyles in Newcastle, both fine, both specialists.

Re: North East Alfa Specialists?

The Alfa palaver in the north east is ridiculous I have just bought one after looking for 6 weeks you have very little to choose from ie marking one vehicle off against the next. I looked for ages and wanted a diesel due to additional work related mileage. I am a very lucky man as my diesel search got that bad and my fear of something going wrong with my own vehicle on the arduous many a motorway mile search meant i bought an MG 2.0 TD (muppet i know). I wasnt happy on signing for it and couldnt believe i actually did. Luckily for me I encountered plenty of problems straight away and went back to the dealers with a full list of faults. Whilst waiting for them to be done I received my log book for my new acquisition and found i was its 5th owner and the car was not 2 yrs old until 27 sep 07. I can hear you now why did'nt you ask but in my defense for the previous 4 weeks it was part of my regime and I omitted the question due to the cars age, school boy error I know.

On receiving the log book I kicked off big time and demanded to speak to the general manager and told him i wanted my car and my money back. This request was dismissed with contempt stating I should have asked.I then questioned the service history which was signed and stamped by the companies other dealership 4 miles away. My query was the fact it was not dated and wanted to know when it had been done. On phoning I got no joy and a rather dismissive response along the lines of sorry our computers have changed over recently I cant give you them details now. I informed them that I have to keep records for 3 years of all sorts of info in the job I do and it is ridiculous that they cant provide me with the info I needed they must be regulated by a governing body.

The general manager asked me to give him time to investigate my request but was hinting that I was out of order and wondered what I was getting at. My ace card was the oil was as black as a fire back and I had been told that there was no way it had been changed recently and possibly not in the past 6 months.

The very next day I received a phone call from the GM stating due to the list of faults with the car and the work involved he was prepared to give me my part ex and my money back.

I nearly fell of the settee I was delighted was I lucky or was there a rabbit off.

Sorry for war and piece but wanted to share this info with some forum members.

You were lucky there Boro.. But someone else will no doubt buy that MG.

Oh and by the way, can also recommend BMC in Newton Aycliffe, as a few others have already mentioned. Top people there, really friendly.
