Re: Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione

The effect the 8c will have on the Alfa brand will be startling, a car that's simply RIDICULOUSLY good to look at, but also with the firepower to take on Ferrari & Porsche's finest. It's a very bold step for Alfa to take but they have the heritage and pedigree to carry it off so why the hell not? Let's do something that BMW and Audi could never do even if they desperately wanted to

I believe it's what the marketing men would call a "halo product" - not necessarily a big money-spinner but instantly makes the rest of the range look even sexier and gets people looking at Alfas when they may not ordinarily do so. I just hope they also put the spider into production in which case I'm gonna sell the house, buy a caravan and live happily ever after in car porn utopia

Re: Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione

Was reading on some magazine that the 8c is expected to be the first of limited productions Alfas aimed at creating the halo effect Al mentions.

Point is, how long will they be allowed to do so and how unique can they make their 8c and other cars given the costs of creating your own model and the obvious overlaps with Masers and Ferrari.

Anyhow, the more of the 8c type cars we get, the better as hopefully some of the technology will percolate down to the sort of cars people actually can buy and help the brand overall residuals,

Re: Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione

One thing that springs to mind is how has Alfa developed the platform (chassis and everything around it)? With which money? With that price tag it would be healthy if the 8C could compete with the F430 handling wise, but has Alfa really got the resources to get that act together?

It seems like it's a project heavily influenced by the Ferrari and Maserati technologies available to the group.

That is a very good point Al...this is something that Audi and BMW could never do. They already have expensive cars (such as the M6) which is closer to F430 price territory than anything Alfa produce...but it is not the same as producing a car which is an alternative for something like the F430. (I suppose you could say there is the Audighini Gallardo..but that dosn't count as it is not badged as an Audi)

Alfa has the brand name to be able to pull this off without people mocking as they are still seen by the public as a luxury marque with a heritage to back up a product like the 8C.

Re: Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione

8c comptetizione will finally be produced only in 500 units. The price will be between 130k and 150k in Italy.AR will first launch 8c in Paris motorshow, then the orders book will open and at last production will start. The development of the new v8 4.7lt is in the final stages.8c will surely have at least 460hp.It's going to be a fast car, around 4.5 sec 0-100 and 310 km/h but it's not the ultimate in performance,it's more of a collectors car and an image booster.

Sakis/Anyone, let's just say, theoretically speaking, that I'd like to put my name down on the order book. Is there going to be a customer pre-selection? Are there "favoured" dealers that will have preferential allocation? Would it be an Italy only affaire or would us in the Far East get a chance to put our name down?

Not sure how these things work

Re: Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione

I think it's basically whoever puts the money down first.....probably...the car has not yet been launched so we must have to wait.

Re: Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione

OMG...

And only three times as expensive as my brera - damn I knew i shouldn't have bought my boat... I'd have some explaining to do but I might get forgiven - eventually, imagine that as your daily driver...

what I want to know is why in the third picture are the two drivers walking away from the car towards the woman in the bath towel who was in the skoda octavia... and what is the bloke in the flourescent jacket doing with a motorhome...

Most of all I must know why are they all looking at the woman not the 8c...
