Independent garage Recommendations

Just a thought, why don't we make a sticky thread for people to make personal recommendations for Independant Alfa Dealers/Services? Can one of the mod's make this sticky?

This would, I am sure, be useful for new members and save a lot of searching through old threads. Just keep it simple, something like the below.

I can kick off with a recommendation for East Sussex/West Kent.

SDR Autos Ltd
Cousley Wood Garage
Cousley Wood
Wadhurst
TN5 6EP
01892 783366

Sales and servicing specialisting in Alfa's. Did a good job on my 156, changed all the belts, variator water pump etc etc.

Had my wife's 147 serviced by them last week. It's a 2.0l had a full service, spark plugs and all the belts (cam, aux and balancer) plus tensioners etc done. Came out at a bit over £500.

Still happy with SDR, they sorted a problem with water in the sparkplug wells, let me have a second-hand coil pack for less than £20 (£100 new) and when I collected the car the guy drove it round to the front of the lot and it had even been washed.

Cheers

Andy

Re: Indie Recommendations

I think there's a thread like this already somewhere. I'm sure someone will pop along and provide a link.

There may be but I have found trouble find threads with recommendations in. I thought a sticky thread in the General Alfa section would be the logical place to put it.

Any moderators able to give an opinion?

Jamie Porter (Alfa Workshop)
Unit 15, Orchard Road,
Royston, Herts
SG8 5HD
01763 245481

...are an excellent combination of quality and price and are often recommended on the forum. Do a search on Jamie Porter or AlfaWorkshop, (if you're a guest, you must register to get the benefit of the forum search function).

They're real Alfa enthusiasts and people seem to come from all over the country to get their cars to him.

Thier website is a mine of useful information too.

Re: Indie Recommendations

I agree with Steve - Bluebell Motor Company, half the price of a dealership and considerable cheaper than either FAST (Stockton on Tees) or Lyles at Newcastle; although Lyles did quote £330 for cambelt and aux's.

I agree with Padders. Alfaworkshop absolutely fantastic service. Ordered a set of cam locks (£40 - cheaper than anything I could find) on Thursday night, got them this morning (Saturday)!

Andy Moores in Poolsbrook, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The guy is a diamond. He'll top up windscreen wash for nothing, does MOT's for £15, goes out of his way to help. I really can't praise him enough. I take mine and my wife's car to him. His number is 01246 473444.

Have spent loads of dosh there in the last year and have saved myself at least as much had I gone to a dealer. They've never done a bad job, and Justin loves to show you the knackere
