Re: Independent garage Recommendations
Excellent idea. Im looking for an independant dealer in or near glasgow at the moment if anyone knows one??? I have a GTV CUP and the local alfa dealers just quoted me £400 for the 60000 service and changing the timing belt / variator. Thats with a decent discount. Im not sure i trust them though. Any help appreciated.

sorry, O/T i know, but a cup should be a v6, no variators there, and the belt change will be alot more, no offence, but are you sure it's not a t/s with an aero kit?

A big recommendadtion for the guys at Waterfall Garage, Bridgend. They've probably been mentioned before but I think they deserve another shout after being down there myself.
Picked up the tip to try them off the board here, took my 147 down with recurring electrical troubles after the dealer couldn't diagnose their arse from their elbow and they were straight to the cause of the trouble. I know they have put in a lot more hours on the diagnostics than they have charged me. Top-notch service, couldn't praise them enough for their patience with my troubles, their knowledge and the time and effort put into my diagnosis.
Both tidy guys in there, both of them are Alfa fans, they also do a lot of work on German makes.

Re: Independent garage Recommendations
Good to read positive comments about Black & White Garage in Newbury. I'm picking up a 2.0 TS GTV from them next weekend. So far I've found them very friendly and proffessional, and the classics they keep in their showroom are beautiful. All the staff there seemed very knowledgeable about Alfa's past & present, and I got a pretty good deal I think. Will post again when I've picked up my new pride & joy.

Re: Independent garage Recommendations
Useful thread! I went round to these guys to book my 147 in for a 72,000 mile service, sticky gear linkage rebuild and heated seat switch sorting after hearing about them on here. They booked me in for the next day, it cost £280. Not sure how that rates, but they were quick and knew what they were talking about!
I'd definately use them again.

Following on from this thread:
http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...oil-level.html
A thumbs up for Simply Alfa based in Lye West Mids, very helpful chaps, I've been having trouble with erratic revs so they lent me a MAF to try out at the weekend to see if it solves the problem. They've only been set up a few weeks, but they seem very knowledgable and enthusiastic

Re: Independent garage Recommendations
I'd like to second (or third or fourth...) Mike at A&M, just north of Fareham. He made my 147 like new. Cam-belt kit, transverse rod, new back box, variator, plugs, oil and air all for £717 and he picked her up and dropped her back and even gave her a clean. Highly recommended!

Re: Independent garage Recommendations
I have had a look through these pages to see if anyone is going to recommend S & H auto's in Poole?
Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, Italian Car Spares and Repairs
I am due a full service a belt change in the not too distant. I have picked up the recommendation for Red Motori and don't mind traveling if required. But if these guys in Poole are any good then let me know!
They have a flashy website.............? (I know......I know, never judge a book and all that!)
Cheers.

Also collected and returned my car (15miles each way) and left me a 146ti loaner FOC.
top guys all round who really know there Alfa's.
