Re: Independent garage Recommendations

Hi

Just to pick up on SDR Auto's near Wadhurst.

I have just purchased a my 147 selespeed from them, didn't even know they were there when I live in Tunbridge Wells. Moved to East Kent and then found them... Typical!

Very, very impressed with the service and knowledge of the staff, Scott inparticular was very helpful and really knew his stuff..

Many Thanks!

This would, I am sure, be useful for new members and save a lot of searching through old threads. Just keep it simple, something like the below.

I can kick off with a recommendation for East Sussex/West Kent.

SDR Autos Ltd
Cousley Wood Garage
Cousley Wood
Wadhurst
TN5 6EP
01892 783366

Sales and servicing specialisting in Alfa's. Did a good job on my 156, changed all the belts, variator water pump etc etc.

Had my wife's 147 serviced by them last week. It's a 2.0l had a full service, spark plugs and all the belts (cam, aux and balancer) plus tensioners etc done. Came out at a bit over £500.

Cheers

Andy

Leatherhead Motor Company
Brooke way

For MOT and Tyres. Seriously try them last for tyres as they are more than often cheaper tthan internet prices. They also have the latest 4 wheel alignment machine.

Speak to Lisa and mention Alfasnooks from this forum to get a excellent deal on tyres.

Re: Independent garage Recommendations

Time for a recommendation from the middle of nowhere.

Doug Niven Cars
Chirnside
Duns
Berwickshire

01890 818425

Not an Alfa specialist - but can fix anything. Does an excellent job always, an MGB nut (rallies and race preps them) and involved in Motorsport around the area generally. Mine has just been to see Archie and is purring like a cat that got the cream.

Resurrected a Montreal that had been in a shed for 25 years a couple of years ago.

He's just repaired my son's 147 1.6 TS after a cambelt breakage and did a 60k service on my 147 2.0 TS (and got it MOT'd). Still got change out of a grand for all that.
Duncan is the main man! But only phone number to use is the mobile number. The 0117 number is the showroom (at a different location) and you will only be able to speak to the sales staff there. The workshop is at 86 Gordon Road BS5 7DP but it is best to ring first.

Re: Independent garage Recommendations

Am amazed Rusper Alfa Romeo has not been mentioned. Dave Comber and Co are top people - in Rusper High St opposite the church. You will have trouble getting away as they want to show you their ongoing projects out hte back . Know their stuff and very friendly. Love your car as much as you do. http://www.rusperalfaromeo.co.uk

GTV 2.0 Lusso

Re: Independent garage Recommendations

I have just had an awful with experience with D & J Autos in Leighton Buzzard.
They are a Alfa/Fiat specialist, which is why I used them to trade in my GTV for a 5 door 147 (Pregnant wife, doh!).

The car first went back for a Landa Sensor failure, which I diagnosed. I had to constantly ring them, to chase it up, they never returned my calls and were basically useless. After two weeks of driving around in a Fiat Panda I finally got my car back.

Then the rear suspsension arms went, which were fixed OK, but shortly after the front ones went. By this time it was out of warranty, and they only knocked off a very small amount, even though they probably went during the warranty period.

The main problem I had with this garage was their lack of customer service, which is why I went to an independant dealer in the first place.

Avoid at all costs.

Re: Independent garage Recommendations

Lancashire

Ferdi's Garage in Lytham St. Annes.
1A West Cliffe
Lytham
FY8 5DR
01253 738903
http://www.ferdisgarage.co.uk/

I've taken my '02 156 Selespeed SW and my wife's '03 147 to him ever since the warranty ran out and he does great work at a reasonable price. He's an AROC member and loves Alfa's but does other Italian stuff as well. I've seen Ferraris, Maseratis and an original Lancia Stratos there. Yesterday there was an early Spider on one of the ramps and Ferdi drives a 147!
