Ugly Alfas
Has anyone seen the aol homepage?? I just browsed through the top 50 uglyest cars and was amazed at the amount of alfas they have listed..
I dont know who chose the 50 but they must have strange taste!
Have a look through them ,some of their choices are bizzare.
lamborbgini countache,alfa sz,maserati bi-turbo,etc.
Me thinks they should book their room at the mental hospital immediatly.Any thoughts owners.

Re: Ugly Alfas
Yes,I have seen it,I dont' think any of the alfas could be classed as
ugly,different maybe.
However they got one right, the Ssangyoung Rodius,I have seen a few
of these,it is the most hideous monstrosity with that glass extension
tagged on the back,no one in their right mind could have ever designed this,in all fairness the Rexton isnt' a bad looking 4x4,but that
was penned by Ital Design!

Re: Ugly Alfas
I couldn,t belive they picked the sierra, although its not exactly inspiring ,back when it was introduced it was a massive leap forward in styling from the cortina it replaced, and it sold in the millions.

Toyota has even sold more Corollas, but that doesn't mean it is a good looking car

Re: Ugly Alfas
Well, AOL does stand for 'America On Line', and, not being disrespectfull to Americans, many of them have shocking taste in cars. The trouble is that Alfas and their stable mates will not be big enough.

Re: Ugly Alfas
well, I am sorry to say that it is made two ugly Alfas.
Arna
6 (sei) or 90, No wonder that it is not at the Alfa Romeo museum close Milan
But the rest is as nice as a car can be or ....
Well, actually, I am glad We don´t about other car companies like vw, toyota, and so on. Then there wouldn´t be enough pages on internet to say what I feel.

TBH I'd rather have a Mk4 Cortina than a Sierra, the Sierra's only benefit is fuel injection.
& even being relatively old as it is, a Mk3 Cortina has to be better styled than a lot of cars between then & now

Re: Ugly Alfas
Alfa Romeo 166 (1998)
Not exactly ugly - until you saw it parked next to its predecessor 164. Whereas the Pininfarina-designed 164 was elegantly restrained and had beautiful detailing, the 166 was the same basic outline wearing a donkey jacket instead of a ball gown. The sides were bloated and the front end drooped towards the corners, with little piggy headlights. Plenty of people knew that buying a 164 was a gamble, but went ahead because of its looks. Nobody ever thought that about the 166, which is why sales never got close to its reasonably successful forebear.
Who ever wrote this, has stolen comments made by other people to write his/her piece. Was it not Jeremy Clarkson who said the 'Face Lift' model had piggy headlights in his 'You know you got soul' book? So has nothing to do with the orignal shape - on which the 156 was based and won car of the year, so it can't be that bad (can it). Of course there' no bias from me at all
Sorry for the rant but this list is so very wrong!
Ahh that feels better

Re: Ugly Alfas
Well, many of the Alfas listed may not be "ugly" they are far from beautiful. Neither the "6" (a bloated Alfetta?) nor the Arna were pretty cars and the 75 and SZ are cars "with presence" not with beauty. Remember, Alfa itself christened the SZ "Il mostro" - The Monster!

I believe that "Il mostro" was used as referencing the SZ's performance capabilities. It was quite a supercar in its day though I must admit the Zagato styling is an aquired taste. I wouldn't mind one in my garage

Re: Ugly Alfas
I always thought it was the press that christened it 'Il Mostro', rather than Alfa themselves.

You must be an unusual man that likes the looks of the big Yankee monsters and the smaller, more conservitive, 'European' cars.

Haven't looked at the list (why bother) but from that I guess the 166 is listed? This says more about the people who listed the cars than the 166. Isn't it Guigaro or some other styling legend who drives one?

Re: Ugly Alfas
I must admit I struggle to find the 155 a good looking Alfa, as well as the front of the pre facelift 166.
The Arna is ugly becasue it looks like a Nissan...

It doesn't look like a Nissan. It is a car built in cooperation with Nissan.
Nissan Cherry! And I have only seen these Arna's in Italy. Not in Holland nor in Denmark

It was a Datsun Pulsar with an Alfa engine in it.

The 155 is a glorious race car and in road format was way ahead of its time. Have you looked at an alfa 75 ? 3 boxes stuck together !
the 166 is lovely in its own way, the facelifted version is simply not with it at all
so shoot me
