Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival

Dates for next years meetings have just been announced. I think tickets will go on sale early next month, based on what happened last year.

They are both worth a visit

Festival of Speed: 22nd,23rd and 24th June

Revival: 31st Aug, 1st and 2nd Sept.

Mike

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival

Thanks Mike!

I wholeheartedly agree. I'll be taking my annual pilgrimage again in 2007.

Well worth the trip if anyone's unsure / too far away etc

Wonder what Alfa exotica may be on show? Nothing quite prepared me for the 8c Roadster at this years event.

... a few beers later and I was ok though

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival

Mrs.GC absolutely loved the Revival last year and this, so it's almost a certainty that we will be there next year too (hoping for better weather next year )

I am going to try to persuade her to go to the Festival this year too.

How about a mini AO meet there?

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival

I will hopefully be going to the Festival again (have been for the last six years). My wife enjoys it and my six year old son is old enough now to appreciate what it's all about. He loved it this year, especially the rally stage and getting to sit in a Renualt F1 car.

It's a fantastic event and unlike any other motorsport meet I have been to, all you need is good weather!

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival

Depends if you like dressing up or not Mike
Revival is more about the "glory days" where period dressing is all part of the experience.
Festival of Speed has, at its central theme, a competitive hill climb open to all genres of sports/racing cars/bikes (from a 1920 Bugatti to an 8c roadster to a suped-up lorry!)

Both are quite family oriented, especially the weekend days. It's for real sportscar enthusiasts (the kind willing to stand at the back of a six deep crowd in the pit lanes just to glipse, hear and smell the experience of these cars firing up and driving past!

Secondary point being, as it's getting increasingly popular evey year, it can get busy!! There's loads of activities to keep even the most short attention spanned of people amused.

I personally get more out of the FOS - as it combines all the latest supercar exotica, race track and pit lane fun. You'll never, EVER get the chance to see, let alone touch most of these cars in tour every day life.

Check out the site - put the 2006 DVD on your Santa list!!

I'd also be up for an AO outing!

Thumbs Up Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival

G'day Jed.........

In your opinion whats the best day to go....

Went a couple of years ago, on the Sunday.

GOOD Bargains in the Market area, but elsewhere seemed (IMO) to be a bit sluggish, everyone seemed to be spent......

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival

Hey Foxie!

Doesn't really matter - as they're all fab.

Friday - more for the enthusiast. Not as busy. Fewer kids. "Free" practice day for the hill climb
Sat - main practice day
Sun - main timed raceday. Judging of the Cartier "Style et Luxe"

All days have live music, stalls, ralley stages, air displays, various exhibitions - oh yeah, and fabulous cars!

All the main sports car manufacturers have their stands to showcase all their new stuff. Alfa marquee had brera spider, brera coupe, couple of 159s and (I think) a GT too last year, to sit in, ask about, photograph etc.

Last 2 years I've taken the day off work and gone on the friday purely due to it not being as busy.
